If you're on a generic, yes, many people do find that generics are often less effective than brand names and some generic manufacturers are better than others. Others don't notice these things. Generics are not identical to brand name drugs, they are similar enough to work pretty much the same but our bodies differ and might not absorb the generic as well. Brand name manufacturers are also much more consistent in meeting manufacturing standards -- while they do a lot of horrible things, this is an area where they are far superior to generics manufacturers who are fined regularly for cutting corners to cut costs on their very low margin products. Now, if your medication looked a lot different, I'd go back to the pharmacy and have the pharmacist look at it and make sure you got the right drug -- different generics can have different colors and your pharmacist knows if they switched companies -- they do this a lot if they get a better price, though they don't pass that savings on to us or our insurance companies. But again, if it looks a lot different and you're having this much of a reaction, it wouldn't hurt to take it back to your pharmacy to make sure -- your pharmacies will know this better than your doctor will.
