Can this swallowing problem be real or in my head

I had a barium swallow done and it came back normal, and had a doctor take a scope and just look at my throat where my vocal cords are. I am concerned I have Dysphagia but since I had that barium swallow come back positive the doctors said I could eat as I normally would, However, I do have problems with panic attacks and I am scared that I would choke on my food and as a result I think I tighten my throat muscles and my gag reflex kicks in...Is this swallowing problem most likely in my head because from what it seems the doctors have ruled out everything else possible. I am just scared and haven't ate...I have never had a swallowing problem before and I am only 16 and this has only been going on for a year now...plz just give me some insight on this or why i tense my throat maybe and how i can stop it.

also in the morning when my throat isnt as tense is when i eat the best but as the day goes on with stress my throat tightens up and is starting to tighten when I wake up...

Well first understand the mind is the god of the body. The sytoms of anxiety are endless due to its a mental stages. Everything from a tingling feeling to muscle spasms. So the possibility's of it are endless. A hypochondrac has this same problem there body mimics the symptoms soly because they feel them due to stress. I have the same problem and even in my throat. i think my throat is closing but i just sit with it and be strong and move though it. I was taking anti hestimens but it was hurting my workout so i had to stop and just be strong.  You just have to work your way though it. Eat dont stop just push though it. Ive gone to the ER for nothing before and trust me its imbrassing youve gone to the doctor had the test. Weather this is in your mind or not i cant say but it just may be. Push though it and well see. Mind over matter is the truth being displayed here.

Hi I have had swallowing probs since in my teens, I am now 29. Had all the tests, they said it has something to do with muscles in the throat not working as they should. Went for a year where I could only eat mash potato and icecream...not too bad but bit boring after a while! My throat has never returned to normal but learnt to eat certain foods, and much more slower! Occasionally it flairs up worse again and settles down again. Stress and anxiety can make it worse, but for years docs kept telling me it was all in my head and to go home and eat and dont be stupid! Still not any better, but i just learnt to deal with it and try not to get stressed over it.

Hopeful this is helpful for you. been through it!
