Celexa/Citalopram

I was researching online about a week ago about people who have mental illnesses and schizophrenia. I was all so looking up the symptoms and reading stories about people who had it. No I think I’m hearing things I read a story about one girl who had a name stuck in her head. Now I have a name stuck in my head "Bob" and I keep thinking things like is bob hungry etc or I wonder what Bob is doing. The thoughts are completely irrational and I know they are. Ive been getting them for about two weeks since I’ve been on Citalopram. Does this mean I am suffering from a severe mental illness or is this my panic and anxiety playing tricks on me once again. My heart races so fast I get dizzy as well and start sweating sometimes I feel like I cant breathe.I feel like Im going crazy and loosing my mind

Thank you so much Paxiled you always give great insight...I just need to calm down...The first thing my mind always goes to is it must be a severe mental illness because I have a fear of severe mental illnesses since my Grandma has a mental illness where she talks to herself. I have been scared I was going to end up like that since I was a child. Thank goodness for this forum

You're not schizophrenic.  You're anxious.  And yes, antidepressants can cause all kinds of strange thinking, though that doesn't mean that's definitely the cause.  They even have increased anxiety as a side effect for some people.  As for Bob, if you were living in a more magical culture, you might just think you were about to meet someone named Bob.
