Coming of Zoloft

Hello!  I haven't posted in these forums for awhile, which I suppose is a good thing.  A year a go I was dealing with anxiety and depression after a rough patch in my life.  I'm glad to say that after being put on Zoloft and talking to a therapist I am doing a 100% better!  I was put on 25mg of Zoloft  once a day last March and have taken it for a year (that was the recommended length of time given by my doctor and therapist) .  It is now time to come off the Zoloft and my doctor said that it was necessary for me to wean off it because it was such a low dose.  They also added that if wanted to contact them.  I do feel more comfortable weaning off it but am having trouble getting a hold of my doctor (I think he's on vacation).  I was just wondering if anyone knew the criteria for weaning off of Zoloft?  Like I said I was prescribed 25mg once a day and that amount has not changed and have been taking it for a year.  I just got my last prescribed 30 tablets from the pharmacy but am not sure how to do this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Thanks for the input guys!  My doc finally got back to me and laid out a plan to wean off the Zoloft for me.  I really do appreciate your help!  Let's just hope no withdrawal symptoms while I go through this.

It depends on how slowly you want to wean off.  I would split the pills in quarters, taking three quarters a day for 5 days. Then take 1/2 tab for 5 days. Then take 1/4 tab for five days.  Then I would take 1/4 every other day and then every third day and so on...

Your pharmacy would be a good place to het that information. They are usually very helpful with stung like that.
