Conversion Disorder?

Hi. I'll try to make this short.

One year ago I started with Neuropathy symptoms, first numbness and weakness in extremities, then pain, stabbing, burning , tingling, pins and needles, muscle twitching and spasms, the whole package. Almost at the same time I got two panic attacks, leading me to the ER, with fake heart attacks that obviously were nothing.

I took several tests and an EMG/NCV showed some residual issues from what neurologist believes was an self-limited episode of unknown cause. But besides it, and some high cholesterol level, nothing seemed to answer what I was feeling. I got gabapentin and clonazepam, with B-12 supplements for treating it all.

During the year symptoms evolved from mostly arms and legs, to pretty much my whole body. They tested me for tender points looking for Fibromyalgia and nothing. Besides, the presentation of my condition ranged from one month or so feeling bad, and one or two weeks feeling great. Even durign a regular day this up and down presentation is present, where some hours a day I feel miserable, and some others I feel like nothing happened.

Finally more test including a contrasted MRI a new NCV, and pretty much all of the blood tests available, with nothing out of normal range bedsides my cholesterol(again), this is what convinced my neurologists that I was really having a Conversion Disorder/Somatoform condition. They explained to me that the adrenergic discharges can irritate and/or damage my nerves so I feel this way.

I'm currently on a crisis, because, even with all that I still feel bad, really bad sometimes like today. That's why I wanted to ask if this kind of condition could really give me the kind of hell I'm going through for a year. And if it's possible that the first EMG/NCV could be affected by this, or Could it be something else?

I've tried everything, and I also got some occasional panic attacks, but nothing so ever lasting like this terrible symptoms, and I can't find a way to get rid of them, so any advice is welcomed.

I woke up on Friday, March 4, 20011 with a migraine headache; have suffered from them since my daughter was born....pretty much just learned to live with them. I did the same thing I always did when I got a migraine, tried sleeping it off, took Imtrex. Nothing worked on Monday, March 7th I attempted to go to work, by now the headache was horrible, worst one I have ever had. I went and seen my family doctor, he gave me a shot of Toridall. Now I have had these shots before and they have worked within the hour of getting them. NOT THIS TIME. Long story shorter......I have been in 2 hospitals, went thru 2 Neruologist, 2 family doctors, see a therapist on a weekly basis, see a chiroprator weekly......I had the migraine for 22 days, around day 12 I started having speach problems, not to poke fun but I talked and still talk like Forrest Gump, the same time period I started having trouble with fine motor skills, couldn't feed myself, bath myself, tie my shoes...... I was admitted to the 2nd hospital by my new family doctor because she thought I was having a stroke. I was given an anti-seizer medication that finally took the headache away, well for a couple days anyway. As of today, I still have stroke like symptoms, left leg drags, speach is still messed up, I have little to no strength in my left arm, the newest thing is I am having uncontrolable muscle spasms on my right side, OH yeah I don't sleep more than 2 hours a night. I have been dignosed with Conversion Disorder, Post Tramatic Stress Disorder and Acute Anxiety Disorder. I am not allowed to work, drive....daily activities are becoming more and more difficult.
Before March 4th I was a normal 33yr. old mother of 1, worked 50 hours a week, cleaned my house, drove my car like I stole it, cooked, did laundry.......You know all the things that we all take for granite! I am desperately trying to find someone with some sort of answers, I have had 2 MRI's, 2 CAT scans, bloodwork that tested for everything under the sun, spinal tap (that sucked), now they want me to do a sleep study. I think that is funny, they want to do a sleep study on someone who doesn't sleep. If anyone has any information that could help I would be grateful. I just want to understand what happend to me, and how to get back to what I use to be.

i developed sysmptoms like yours about six or seven years ago. i've had four emg/ncv tests, two brain mris, c-spine mri, t-spine mri, l-spine mri, somatosensory evoked potentials, blood tests. everything came back normal. my fourth neuro suggested possibility of some sort of somatization thing or fibro, but nothing definite (another words, he didnt have a clue--like the rest of them). the klonopin helps, particularly with the panic attacks. your whole first paragaph sounds like me though. i've been told that basically normal emg/ncvs will rule out most serious peripheral nerve issues.
