Effexor or Not, GERD HELP?

Everyone has an opinion on meds and meds react differently in our bodies. I am 38, a little over weight and I have been battling severe Acid Reflux/GERD for the last year. I don't have a thyroid and take synthroid and I also had Ovarian Cancer(no meds needed, surgery and monthly doctor visits) and a total hysterectom). I was on Effexor for a short time a few years ago and I can't remember side effects. I remember zoloft I felt spacey and on Paxil my eyes were HUGE and I ran miles.... They were giving me this stuff because of the chemical imbalance in my body. The Effexor I believe was good- I rested more, I think. I am about to start taking it again, at least for two months and see. I start with a week of a low dose and then go to 75. I have a lot of worry thoughts and anxieties.... (I am a Christian and I know God is going to take care of me and is taking care of me and I trust Him, but I am human!!)  What is your opinion really of all of this? I know some have had bad experiences, but there could have been other factors besides the Effexor..

After just one day of Effexor, I decided no. The side effects were a little too much even to wait a while---hot flashes, heart palpitations, nerve/muscle spasms, thirsty and in a fog.. NOT FOR ME.. I know it is jsut one day and I should wait---but no no... Blurred vision...

I am going to try the Effexor for a week with just my synthyroid and I got some Aloe Vera juice to see if it can help some... I really think the  PPIs do cause some anxiety..

I've had acid reflux for a long time.  I'm pretty sure it started because of drinking, smoking, and being overweight.  Then my anxiety kicked in and the problem got so bad that I stopped drinking and lost a bunch of weight.  Still had it.  Prior to this and after I was on Nexium and Prevacid to treat the GERD but they did very little to help.

Then I had the weird idea that the PPIs were CAUSING my anxiety so I quit them, and of course the GERD got worse.  Later that week I went to the doctor for anxiety and got a prescription for Klonopin.  I eventually worked up enough nerve to take the Klonopin, and guess what?  The GERD disappeared.  Then about a week later it came back a little and I started back on Prevacid.  Together these worked.

I'm pretty sure acid reflux is aggravated by anxiety, so if you treat both of them you may have some luck.

ive been on effexor 75mg a day for 7 yrs for anixety and i love it.. and actually now they start u at 75 and bring u to 150 if u need they dont even do 35mg for he first week anymore.. good luck.
