Gagging?

I find when I am either nervous or planning to go out in public that I start gagging. I usually have gag fits beforehand so that i won't have to worry about having one in public. Are there any remidies that anyone knows of that will help keep my anxiety down?

Yes i do chew gum and it usually helps

My wife has really bad gag reflexes. I know hers isnt anxiety driven though. She has pretty large tonsils and I think that has something to do with it. When she laughs really hard she gags sometimes, and she hates it. But she finds that a really strong mint or mint gum really helps for some reason. Have you tried that?
