Heart Palpitations

Hi guys.  First post.   I suffer from Panic Attacks, GAD and Health Anxiety.  Lately, my worry about my irregular heartbeat is really freaking me out.  About a year ago I went to a cardiologist and got all the tests-Holter, Echo, EKG, stress test, and all was fine.  He noticed a large number of skipped beats, but he said it was anxiety. He said it was nothing life threatening.  I was pretty good for awhile, but now my arrythmia is getting worse.  I don't know if its anxiety making it worse or it actually being worse and causing more anxiety.  I think about my heart all the time.  Even with medicine I am continually anxious.  The idea of going back to the doctor to have him repeat all of those tests is terrifying, too.

Have always read posts and never have done this before.  I am so tired of living in fear every single day.  I am on Xanax and Lexapro--but they don't help much.  Just really needed to let it our.

I too sometimes feel my heart lurch like it has just skipped a beat. Of course I then focus on my heart and become sure I am also having chest pain which then makes me feel like I am going to have a heart attack. I tell myself your only 27! How can you have a heart attack. Then a little voice tell me that it can happen. But in the end I am always fine. So, I always have to remind myself that I am always fine in the end and that it has to be anxiety. It has to be. I am sure that you are fine too. You have to find a way to calm yourself and cope. I like to lay on my bed in the dark and just breath.

Hello,
An irregular heart beat it totally normal. Apparently my Grandad had one and he lived till he was 78 years old and he had many other issues that didn't relate to the heart what so ever. If i were you I would get counselling or just find someone to talk to. Sometimes just letting someone else know that is going round and around in your head is comforting. I have anxiety but i was quite embarrassed to tell anyone about it until my mum got it out of me, now i can talk to her about it whenever I want and i feel a lot better after i have spoken to her. It kind of puts my mind at rest.
Just remember that other people can live with an irregular heartbeat so why shouldn't you.
I hope you have a lovely day,
Claire
