Help! - Was my drink spiked?

Last night I only drank the same amount of alcohol as I usually do, but the night ended badly and I have a feeling my drink was spiked with an illegal substance.  One minute I was fine - the next I had to go out of the club and get some air, then the vomiting and dizziness began so severely I just had to sit on the pavement outside the club and be sick.  People were obviously concerned and although I was dizzy and disoriented my cognition was ok - by this I mean I could hear and think - but I just couldn't control my body or speech.  I couldnt answer anyone to even tell them my concerns.  To cut a long story short, I eventually got home (my friend got me back safe).  When I got in I had quite bad muscle spasms that I could not control, I was freezing cold despite being wrapped up in two quilts.  Today hasn't been that good either -very dizzy and can't move my head fast else I feel sick again.  I couldn't keep food down this morning, but I've not been sick since 1pm which is good.  I can remember everything very clearly and at no time blacked out.
I can only think my drink was spiked as I just drank what I normally drink and have never experienced this type of episode in all my 35 years.  The only other explanation is I caught a bug - but if so, it was unlike anything else.....

Does anyone recognise these symptoms and does the fact that I didnt black out mean I wasnt spiked?

Thanks

I think i may have been spiked, after two drinks i was out of it. It's been 4 days now and i still don't feel myself, very dizzy in the head. I'm starting to worry. The day after i was at the club i felt sick in the stomach and had a bad headache. Can someone just please tell me if this will go away, because at the moment it's really risky for me to tell the guardians who are looking after me.... But if i have to tell them i will ? Suggestions anyone ?

I was at the races for melbourne cup with work people and didn't drink very much considering.

Then the last thing I remember is just before I finished my last drink which had been sitting unattended for a while; then nothing for 12 hours yet I was apparently talking and moving. But I have no memory whatsoever.

Also I threw up what looked like Bourbon and coke yet I had white wine and champaign, bread oysters and hommous.

I am convincved I was drugged but lucky to be with people that took me home and looked after me beacuse if something had happened I honestly would not know.

Its scary. I am super responsible and anything could have happened. I reported it to the venue in case someone else had the same happen but weren't so lucky.

You should tell the venue you were at so they know there is a predator on the loose.

Cheers

I had something similar happen. At a holloween party last year, I actually drank less than I normally drink and by the end of the night I could not hold myself up. All I could do was cry. I could not speak. It was a house party. My group of close friends were there, but there were some guys that I did not know and that were kind of rowdy there also. At first it was just us, buy luckily my boyfriend showed up, so he took care of me and made sure I was safe. He actually had to carry me to the care. Weird thing was that I didn't feel sick or drunk, I just felt like I couldn't control my body or speak......just cry! Also, the next morning, I was not hung over or anything! Not sick at all! You would think that the way I was, I would have a serious hangover!! I got up next morning and got a move on, went to the hair salon, but on my way there, I had an "anxiety attack"! And that's when it all started for me!! SCARY!

sounds kind of like it. the problem could be medical so you should get checked out...but it doesn't sound much like anxiety to me. even my uncle had the problem once. he thinks it may have been some teenagers looking to have a laugh. it wasn't very funny for him...especially if it had killed him. even regular guys aren't immune to things like that.

Because the world is full of really sick people.
I hope bringing this post back to the top will help women become aware of the dangers that are out there.
And if you go out with friends, you all watch each others backs. And drinks.

There is a post from Oct 19, 2008 in the substance abuse community "did someone poision my beautiful daughter?" It is very, very sad to read. The mother thinks that someone could of posioned her 21 yo daughter while she was at a club. The young girl vomited before she died.  Also someone else was poisioned a week before at the same club.

OMG how could someone do this?

This happened to you on the 4th, today is the 5th, and I know we are on opposite sides of the "pond," as it were, but it has been at least 24 hours since you had this experience and you are STILL having some symptoms, (the dizziness) I would strongly advise you to go to your nearest ER and tell them what happened. It may very well be too late for blood work to show anything, but they may know what all the symptoms you had meant. It doesn't sound like the "date rape" drug since you did not lose any cognition, but those symptoms don't sound like any sudden stomach bug I've heard of and I firmly believe you WERE drugged. I don't mean to scare you and I'm sure you're going to be fine, but I think it's far better to be safe than sorry.
You got some other excellent ideas from other posters and they bear thinking about as well. Could you have mixed your alcohol with a new med and had an adverse reaction? Even as one poster suggested.....an OTC med like Claritan that you may have totally forgotten about? Give your day leading up to the event some thought, what you ate and drank.....do this on your way to the ER!
My main concern is when you say you could not move your body or control your speech. This is NOT a side effect of some little "bug!"
One poster said you may not have received enough of the drug to do what it was intended to do, but instead, only made you sick. Perhaps you owe our life to that fact. I know that going to the ER may sound a bit dramatic, but if there is someone out there doing this to women, the police need to know and ALL women need to be reminded to NEVER, EVER leave their drinks unattended or to let a stranger get a drink for them!
Please let us know how you are.............your terrifying experience could have just saved a life!
Love and Peace

To All - Thanks guys for comments, I feel better today because the clanging head has subsided but my head is still very dizzy.  I went to the pool to do some swimming and had to come home - the more I sit still, the better I feel, as soon as I get up to move I get really dizzy.  I don't feel ill like I have a bug, I just feel odd.  I don't take any medication for anything and I hadn't drunk anywhere near what I normally drink.

I'm just thankful that I vomited when I did and not laid on my back at home - it doesn't bear thinking about.

Thanks again for comments

Could you have had some sort of drug/alcohol severe interaction? Even if you took a Claritin or something earlier that day? Or even a severe allergic reaction.. I had a friend have something similar and no alcohol was involved it was all reaction off a scent they bought, and they went to out-patients because it got so severe..
Hope you are feeling better now.

Mmmm.. I dunno know... I was drugged, and it was nothing like that at all.  One minute I was sitting at the bar, (only had a few drinks) and the next minute I was STANDING in a strange bathroom.  I made a b-line for the door and called my bf.  Went to the police and hospital. Got DNA, still waiting.

Anyway, I don't know what the hell it is that these guys are giving to do this to women, and how much and what it does if you only have it in small amounts.. maybe (if your drink was in fact spiked) it wasnt enough, and made you sick??  Or you just got sick.. but the whole thing about you not being able to speak is strange..

All I can say is, do not leave your drink unattended!  AND I heard, half the time, the BARTENDER has something to do with it!!  I think that was the case in my situation.
