I just want to be normal!

Everything sends me into anxiety.  My friend is on her way over to my house to sit by my pool.  That causes me anxiety...Going to the store...that causes me anxiety....EVERYTHING does.  I just want to be normal and take everything in stride and I can't!  Another friend came back from a trip to San Franscisco and the next day drove us down the Jersey shore (one hour away)....thinking of all that she did in a few days would cause me tremendous anxiety.  So many people can just pick up and go.  I do it, but I am so uncomfortable doing it.  I just want to be able to enjoy my life.  Please, I need to know that their are others who feel the same way as me...I don't want to be alone in this hell.

Normal what is that!!!!!!!!! No one is normal, I have felt the way you do my entire life, you are not ALONE!!!!! 1in 4 americans live with an anxiety disorder of some sort... 25% of the U.S....

So no you are not alone, I always think that I am crazy.... Does that mean I am crazy ..
No it means the opposite..... We can always perceive what other people's life's are like, but everyone has problems!!!!!

     God Bless

I'm with you honey.  I've been battling this for so many years i've lost count, and these past 6 months have been the WORST.  I am experiencing waves of anxiety and panic attacks over absolutely NOTHING.  Can't figure out why it is happening from the moemnt I open my eyes in teh morning. I'm fearing the panic - it's a vicious cycle.  You are not alone!!!! We will all get through this!  Somehow, someway...I think we need to keep each other updated on whatever little thing seems to work or help.
best to all of you,
k

It is funny how you ask if it is because school will be starting up...because with me it is the complete opposite!  I prefer going to work.  I think being occupied and my mind on other things keeps me sane...all this free time for me is no good...no good at all.  Plus I HATE the heat!  I have been feeling this way since about May when I know school is coming to a close and the hot weather is setting in.  So,  hopefully I will begin feeling better as August moves on......Thanks for answering me!  It is nice to see old friends!

hey suzi-q hate to see you going through this one more time, i know its so hard ive been anxiety free now for almost a year but i also know it will at anytime come back to visit.so i just hang on to the months without it and when it hits tell myself it will go away sometime. yes when am in anxiety everything gives it to me, watching a tv show will, so your not alone. hope you had a good summer off, i know school getting ready to pick back up, could that be making you have it again , going back to work. anyways try and not think on it and we are here if you need us.Barbara

Oh yes!  No one understands.....I have been suffering with anxiety/depression for 14 years. And I have been diagnosed by a psychiatrist and psychologist.  I used to go to therapy for many many years.  I am also on medication. It all does help.  I am much better than I was 14 years ago, however, I just get so fed up with it and need to vent to those who understand.  So many many people don't get it...I wish I didn't get it either!  Thanks for your suggestions and making me feel "normal" with those who feel the same way I do!!!  You guys are great!

well you are surely not alone!!
I too feel this way, even though I am able to do things, doesn't mean that I enjoy myself doing them... I have constant worry.. you know i was thinking the other day that ppl like you and myself should be risk-assessors for insurance companies.. you know all they do is find the danger in everything, and that seems to come narural to us... hang in there if you spend your whole life wanting to be normal like others, you end up waisting the life you do have.. I have learned to accept myself the way I am, and even though I don't always have a fun time, atleast I'm doing something.. and maybe in the meantime
I will find myself to be a little better...

Namaste,

Those of us who suffer from anxiety and/or panic attacks never feel "normal", whatever that might be.

One of the problems I see is that you're overthinking everthing instead of just letting things flow as they will.

You didn't mention whether or not you've diagnoised with any disorder or whether your being treated for any disorder.

This infomration wouldbe helpful to those of us in these forums who try to provide guidance, information and support.

If you haven't been to a professional mental healthcare provider the time is now, since your symptoms will only get worse, not better. Take control of your life and do what you have to, in order, to increase the quality of life you enjoy.

I hope to hear back from you, regardless of what you choose to do or not to do.
