Are you taking Topomax? This medication causes these EXACT symptoms
ProdigalGirl
Hello,
I happened to come across your post as i was looking up cavernous angiomas. I had one in my thoracic spinal cord and recently had it removed as it was causing me some paralysis.you said you were told it was inoperable. I was wondering who told you that and if you have gotten a 2nd and 3rd opinion?
I am suggesting that you get copies of any mri's that you have had and send them to Dr. George Jallo at Johns Hopkins University in MD. He is a top notch brain surgeon and very familiar with cavernomas. Please do not take one drs word for anything you must take this into your own hands. It took me 4 drs to find one to see the problem with me and take action.
The symptoms you are experiancing now could be related to the caveroma or to anxiety. I have a lot of anxiety because of the medical issues and felt the same way you do but you just never know. Please email Dr. Jallo and explain your situation. I am sure he will ask you to mail your disks to him and he will give you his honest opinion on what can be done.
Also there is a support website called Angioma Alliance, There are a lot of people on there with loads of information and support to talk with. Pleae join that forum as well.
Best of Luck to you
Dawn
when i read your forum i sat here and cried i to worry about so many things and anxiety makes it sooo much worse .there are so many symptoms of anxiety look them up you will be amazed what our way of thinking does to our bodies good luck
Hun I think you should make an appt with you dr. just to make sure it's not your cavernous angioma. Once that's ruled out you'll know for sure it's you anxiety. I've suffered from anxiety for 7 years now I get all kinds of weird numbness, dizzy, tingling sensations all the time. I suffer freom Hemiplegic Migraines. This form of migraine mimics a stroke. So i know how scary it can be. Best of luck.
If you ever post and no one answers it before it goes out of sight, just reply to your own post and it goes back up to the top of the list.
cj's second opinion is a good idea, because in the Best Doctors medical insurance pamphlets they talk about the high probability of misdiagnosis. I forget the numbers, but it is either 33% or 66%.
One example they gave was a woman who was diagnosed with flesh eating disease and they amputated one forearm, but Best Doctors determined it was something else before they amputated further.
I am sorry that you are experiencing this right now. Please don't feel guilty or beat yourself up about having anxiety; you have a lot on your plate and it definitely sounds like you have your priorities straight with your family. Throughout all of this, have you ever had access to a counselor to talk about these issues? Also, do you know if there are support groups for your condition? Quite often,I find that the feeling of being all alone in our experiences can really magnify our desparation sometimes when there are often many people going through the same experiences as we are. You can gain valuable advice from peoples' experiences with what you are going through. Please let us know how everything is going and welcome to the forum!
I am sorry you are going through this. I so know how you feel about your "babies". I feel the same exact way. I have been having health problems and the neurological part of it is causing numbness in my hands, feet, legs, and side of my temple. I was so upset the other day my lips and side of my face started to go numb. I think I was in a panick attack. I'm not saying what you are experiencing is not from your brain stem. But I know with anxiety you can also get those and some really weird symptoms. I try to think of other things and get my mind off the bad. I am always worrying that i'm going to leave my kids. Don't get me wrong I want to live for myself also but when you have young ones it makes it even tougher to deal with. There are alot of people that feel how you do. Try and keep the good thoughts in your head when you start getting upset. I know how hard that is. Keep your head up. On a side note have you ever thought of going to a 2nd or 3rd opinion on your condition? There might be some doctor out there that knows something different that your other doctors don't. Good luck
