Boy! Greenlydia i cant even say anything you hit the nail on the head !!!!!! i wish someone whould have told that to me 6 months ago !! way to go greenlydia.
Sounds like you've diagnosed yourself quite well. Anxiety & panic can most definitely lead to depression.........and vice versa. I'd have to add that you seem to be developing a bit of agoraphobia as well if you haven't left your house in a week.
You say this all began two months ago. Anxiety & panic are often triggered by an event in our lives that is traumatic, extremely frightening or negatively life changing. Did anything happen two months ago that might fit into those categories? It can also be something that, at the time, doesn't seem traumatic or frightening, but it festers in our minds until it bursts out as anxiety. Did you see a horrible car accident? Did a friend of a friend, who is about your age, die of cancer or another terrible illness? Did your parents divorce? Maybe it was something you saw on TV or read in the newspaper that really upset you? Think very hard and see if there wasn't something that could have been the catalyst for your anxiety.
It's good you went to the ER when you had some strange symptoms. It's far better to be safe than sorry. Did the doctors give you ANY sort of diagnosis at all? Did they even tell you it may just be a panic attack or did they really just send you on your way? I assume they advised you to see your regular doctor and I hope you will follow up on that advice. It's really what you need to do. While 160/102 IS quite high for a young man your age, anxiety and panic can most definitely raise our blood pressure. I have to believe they also did an EKG while you were there, especially when your BP was that high. But it must have been completely normal or they would not have let you leave if it showed any abnormal rhythms at all. They also would have taken your BP several more times and if that had remained high, they would NOT have discharged you. Did they give you any kind of antianxiety meds while you were there? An injection of Ativan or some Valium? Did they send you home with a script for anything?
Having no ambition and feeling bummed out are definitely signs of depression, but all of your symptoms can also be attributed to other things as well which is why it is vitally important that you see your doctor for a full medical check up including blood work. I don't want that to scare you...........it could be your thyroid, it could be an imbalance of some sort, you could just be deficient in some vitamins or minerals. You are not having symptoms of anything fatal and you are NOT dying! I am not a doctor and this is NOT a diagnosis, but in my humble opinion, I think you have an anxiety/panic disorder which has lead to health anxiety and is being compounded by the onset of mild agoraphobia.
All of these are fixable, they are all cureable, there are medications to help you with the symptoms of all of them. Besides seeing your doctor ASAP, I would discuss with him the benefits of getting into some therapy to help you figure out what the root cause of the anxiety is and how to deal with it.
The onset of all these symptoms is so recent, I believe it will be quite easy for you, your doctor and your therapist, working as a team, to get your life back to normal. I think you've just fallen into one of the many potholes life puts on our path.........ask for some help getting out of it, dust yourself off and keep on truckin'
There are hundreds of us out here who know and understand what you're going through, you're not alone and what you're dealing with is far more common than you can imagine. You're going to be just fine, OK? And you've got a whole truck load of people here who will help you day or night.
Be strong
Peace

Yes anxiety can make your blood pressure raise, def. make you feel woozy, the tingling in the face is def. an anxiety symptom, ive had it. and an upset stomach for sure! ALL ANXIETY SYMPTOMS.
Here's what you need to do. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
You are in control. You really are. I've been there, but without getting help, I wouldnt be where I am now, and that's anxiety free!!
I'd see your regular Medical Doctor on a regular basis for a while. He will probably want to start you on a mild antidepressant, and maybe a minor benzo to knock the edge off til the antidepressant kicks in.
Seek therapy, counseling etc.
There is help, there is hope! =)
Can't knock it til you've tried it. Also working out is awesome! It helps a lot after a while.
Hang in there, make that 1st step and start helping yourself. You'll knock this cycle out. Then learn to deal with the later ones if they ever even come back. =)
