I'm always happy for anyone who can beat anxiety.  But I think it's a very complex condition with so many variables, and degrees of severity, that it makes it very much an individual thing. I'm not sure the doctors even have all the answers, therapy helps some, not others.  I feel you do whatever works for you.  Some people are dealing with a traumatic event, maybe others aren't.  I was told by several psychiatrists that I have handled my past just fine.....but still the anxiety lingers.  I don't live in the past, or dwell on it.  I believe in leaving it where it is.  It appears that anxiety along with depression is rampid, and one has to wonder "why?"  We can all come up with reasons as to why this is, but does anyone really have an answer?  But all contributions helps us, and we can learn from one another. We all have to remain positve that we too can beat this.

Gee, five whole months.  Hope we don't see you on here in a while suffering again as so many others have.  Personally, hope the beast never bites you again, but you sound a bit too much like a recent convert to a religion.  We're all happy for you, but none of us is you.  Some of us have lived with this for a very long time.  Some of us have had our lives saved by medication, some ruined by the same medications.  Some of us have been through every therapy available without success, some had success in the first few weeks of therapy.  Some got better on their own.  It takes all kinds to make a world, even the world of anxiety.  But as is everyone else on here, I'm "anxious" to learn how you did it.  Thanks in advance for the contributions, just keep a little humility about it.  We're all trying out here.  Peace to all.

hey thank you for posting it's nice to see some1 who beat this and still cares about others who suffer from it  , I personally have beaten anxiety ( so  I thought)  several times  but I'm destroyed right now

- I crashed my car with a dui 2 years ago and haven't recoverd , I mean no more drinking and all of course but I can't leave my house anymore  even on xanax I feel so worried n scared oddly when I try to leave the house

- Usually I don't leave the house for weeks , only leaving for probation or my therapist/psychiatrist

It's great to hear a feel good story when you're miserable like me .. no joke  to know some1 overcame what you feel is killing you  it really gets your spirits up

Thank you

That's great that you were able to defeat your anxiety without meds, but let's not dismiss the importance of them for some people..its a personal choice.  They have helped me immensely.  I didnt take them to "fix" my  brain. I took them to help alleviate my symptoms of panic so that I COULD start addressing the anxiety with therapy and other non-med techniques.

Just please keep in mind that everyone chooses a different route, there is no "right or wrong" answer as a general rule.  I just think its very important NOT to scare people away from medications if that is something they feel is for them.

Thanks for sharing....we appreciate it.

Hello everyone. As you all know anxiety is a very strange condition it produces many symptoms that would seem to be something other than anxiety. But i assure you that they will all go away once you treat the root cause, your anxiety. I defeated this condition without medication and i feel that that is the most efficient and effective way to do it. The reason i am against medication besides the obvious addictiveness of benzodiazepines and other sedatives is because there is simply no physical problem to fix, your brain is functioning normally, you are not ill. Your brain has learned through repetition that this high level of anxiety is correct, when you all know that it is not. It is like learning anything through repetition, lets say an instrument. The more you practice and play the better you get. You start playing it without even thinking about it, it is burned into your subconscious. This is the same with anxiety, you had your first initial episode, for me it was having a panic attack after smoking marijuana, but it doesn't matter what it was, it happened and you cannot change it. After your first episode you cannot take your mind off it, this is teaching your brain a new level of anxiety. All you have to do is turn it back. I know i said that likes its easy and no big deal, but in all honesty it is not that hard, and i know every single one of you can do it. Once i get some free time i will put together some steps that i used that help me to rid this terrible condition. I have been anxiety free for about 5 months. Also i highly suggest looking into the linden method, it is what saved me from this terrible condition. I look forward to answering any questions you guys have, like i said do not hesitate im here to help.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!  Thank you for your offer to help people understand and tackle anxiety. It DOES truly help people so much to not only hear that people HAVE overcame anxiety, but also to learn about their experience.  Like you said, I only wish YOU had had the luxury of that kind of support when you were going through it.  Please do share with us your history of anxiety....and how you treated it...and how long you have been in "anxiety remission".

Just a cautious word to the readers...anxiety is a VERY sneaky beast.  MANY many many people get fooled into thinking that they are "cured"...often leading to people stopping their meds, etc...only for anxiety to rear it's ugly head again at some point.  This is especially true of panic attacks and panic disorder.  For the vast majority of people diagnosed with an anxiety DISORDER , they experience periods where they could be SO riddled with anxiety and panic that they are housebound....and then "recover" to the point of being totally anxiety free.  Unfortunately, most of us with anxiety disorders are usually stuck with anxiety for a lifetime in one form or another.  THAT is why we suggest a holistic treatment plan that includes therapy...that way one can learn how to COPE and what to do should anxiety strike.  When a person gets thorough treatment, it often lessens the severity of the returning anxiety, and our reaction to it.  Education is so important. The more you learn about it....the less power it has.

Just wanted to add that, so that readers are aware of the patterns of anxiety for a lot of people. Treatment and recovery IS totally possible, it is just important to keep in mind that anxiety may indeed may be along for the long haul, but just like other conditions, it can be totally manageable.

Thanks again, Brett...looko forward to your contributions, as I'm sure are many others!  Congrats on your success!!

anxiety is a very bad thing, it takes your life if you let it . it has tried many times to put me inthe house but i wont let it. i have all the systoms it gives, tingling head/face/ears  weakness. stomack gets so bad cant eat i loss weight really fast, tired, scared , cry alot, feel like am out of my body. high blood pressure, heart paps.

i went throught that for long time, than i got really down after my moms cancer surgery and a guy on here name ryan told me about klonopin, i went got it from my dr. took it 3 times a day and got back on my feet. but most that helped was my hubby. you have to have someoe who can hold your hand throught it, tell you its ok, be there for your attacks, if not there can pick up phone and call them. that was the key to me getting over my anxiety, its been gone for 4 years , yes it still shows up now and than for a day maybe but i know its not a everyday thing anymore only if i let it. you have to get a hold of it and tell yourself, its not killed you yet and its not going to, its in your head, we do it to ourselves so hard to belive it but we do and your mind is very powerful it will take over.

i wish ya the best and hope you can get someone to stand beside you that will understand you and help you get out of this.

Yes that is very common and is only a side effect of anxiety. If you get your anxiety under control the lightheadedness will go away.
