dizzy/floating?

Just a quick question, or if anyone has ever had this before.

I have a lot of stress in my life, very anxious person etc-

I have a pretty tight neck, sore back etc.

I have had every scan possibly and im all normal.

It basically feels like im standing on a dock, i feel movement as in, ive been on water for a day and i still have that sensation. Happens worse when i walk around. Sometimes it will get bad like, the picture may move around.

Its not a "room spinning" feeling or anything, its more of a lightheaded/floating sensation.

I feel this could be anxeity because after i visit a speical doctor etc, when he tells me im fine, the floating sensation lessens a lot.

Any ideas/had this before?

I have had this problem and have read most the comments on the internet and I was running out of hope until I have found relief I wanted to share.  There are vestibular tubes in the ears that contain fluid that moves when you move.  There are hairs inside the tubes that when the fluid touches them they tell your brain where you are in space.  My problem was poor circulation to my ears causing the fluid to get thick as molasses so when I would move the fluid would not move fast enough causing dizziness.  I was prescribed Niacin (vitamin B3) which opens up blood vessels so the circulation would improve. This has worked wonders.  The Niacin I take is NIASAFE-600 by Thorne (540 mg) twice daily.  I have also been performing the Epley Maneuver once a day in the morning to move any crystals out of the vestibular canal.  The Niacin will not work overnight but if this is your problem you will see substantial relief within a week or 2.  Also, be aware of Niacin "flushes".  This happens when the blood vessels open up more and the blood rushes to a certain area (mostly the face).  This is not harmful but can be irritating.  The Thorne Niacin mentioned above is a non-flushing type and my doctor says in his 25 years he has only had one patient have niacin flushes from this brand.  You can find the Epley Maneuver on YouTube.  I hope this helps someone as this dizziness has been torture for me.

I have had this feeling for 2 years. I have had every inner test done and all good. Heart tests - all good. I do believe the original dizziness episode started w/a head cold that lasted a few days and then it manifested intself where i am now. We become hypervigilant to movement, if dizziness is your thing w/anxiety. So, any sensation we feel, we react, where others don't. I have been working on this w/a therapist who atually makes me dizzy and lightheaded to desenitize my brain. The smallest off balance feeling would set off my anxiety into high gear. But I am gradually getting better with it, more of an annoyance now. But yes, I get that off balane, like walking on a boat, floating feeling, it would last all day, every day!

Hi there, I wrote this back in 2008 and was cured about a year later. Turned out it was my jaw messing around with my middle ear, causing me to feel off balance. I banged my jaw about a year before I wrote this post and my jaw got worse when I didn’t even know. Ended up seeing a good dentist and fixed. Hope you find your answer one day….

Five months ago I was making coffee one morning and without warning I passed out.  I have always been healthy but a few days after passing out I felt extremely weak and was trembling; so after a lot of tests I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism.  I never knew anxiety until this all started and since all of it started I have had that off balance, floating feeling like you mentioned.  One doctor prescribed anti-anxiety medications but I didn't like the side effects so I looked for natural alternatives and found l-theanine (an amino acid) and Ashwagandha (an herb from India and Asia).  In addition to those I stopped eating gluten and that alone has made a huge difference.  I still get that light headed, floating feeling but not nearly as often as I was.  Whatever route you go, I hope you get well.

My anxiety has manifested itself differently throughout the months. Though recently I have been experiencing what this post talks about. It is almost as if I am moving up and down but I am standing still. Also, if I lean on something, it feels like it is moving. Really odd feelings.

Yes,that floating feeling...the feeling like you are in a dream-state.  Yes, it is anxiety-related.  I get that often when I am in a stressful situation....and sometimes an exciting happy one too!  It is a shame but sometimes that anxious and that exciting feeling trigger the same responses.

I also get this.  My balance is also not very good now.  Doctors tell me its anxiety.  I do find that it does get worse when I am in a room with lots of people, so I tend to believe my doc.

Could be an inner ear virus? most of the time dizziness is related to the inner ear.Check with an ENT specialist or an otologist....
