Staying positive

Hi Everyone,

Although I have been 95% anxiety free for months I thought I would post on here to let everyone know that It can and does get better. I feel a  little guilty as I have not bothered with this site for months with me being fine. I think its important to post when your well as well as when your feeling very stressed and if I can help one person feel a bit more positive with this awful condition it will be worth it.
I have never accepted any form of medication as my anxiety always seemed heightened with even the thought of medication. I still get palpitation and shortness of breath but I try and give them as little attention as possible and eventually they subside other than that I am symptom free (at the moment) I'm living proof that you can make a complete recovery from anxiety and carry on leading a normal life. so please everyone STAY POSITIVE!!

That's great news!  I agree that we should always share the GOOD news as well.  Just remember we all have our ups and downs with anxiety, but as you have learned to deal with it and confront it you now have the tools to understand it and get through it....keep us posted!

Hi there, there were two massive factors in overcoming my anxiety. The first and most important for me was a website I stumbled across whilst trying to seek help via the Internet   I was so ill at the time and didn't even kno what was happening to me I thought something serious was wrong with me, kept going dizzy feeling like I was going to pass out, heart thumping out of my chest. Couldn't eat or sleep, then I found this website it's called anxiety no more. The web page has a blue strip across the top of the page with a woman looking up to the sky with both her arms out. It's a guy who has suffered from severe anxiety who  made the site he has been through it all and conquered it eventually. His website proberbley saved me that day from going crazy. The other factor was a joined a group for CBT and with the right tools that this therapy gives you you can eventually overcome this awful condition. I do believe  that sheer determination  helped aswell by staying positive helped aswell. Even if I had 1 good hour I would say to myself great that was a full hour without anxiety and try and have another whole hour without a symptom if it didn't come there was always the next  day. Please please stay positive hope this helps.

So nice to read you positive comments, and thank you so much for sharing this with us.  It gives us all hope.  I myself was on anti depressants for over 20 years and they got rid of depression and anxiety.  Since stopping them a year ago I do get anxiety, but don't want to go on any medication.  Did your anxiety just go away, or did you work really hard at conquering it, and if so, how?

You are an inspiration and proof that anxiety, if ignored, can subside.  Not easy, and I do hope others here take comfort from your posting.  Thanks again

Hi sorry this answer is very late I haven't been on here for months, I am still doing really well and keeping a very positive attitude about anxiety. I think my secret is me controlling it rather than it controlling  me. If you feel an attack come on. Welcome it let it come say to yourself come- on then do your worst  and 9 times out of 10 it won't be half as bad as your expecting. Eventually you start to take control. Hope this helps. X

It's good to know that anxiety can be controlled without meds! Im currently taking 0.5mg xanax for anxiety but want to get ofd of them!  I haven't had a panick attack in a while and to be honest,  if I dont take a xanax I dont feel normal. Ive only been taking them for about 2 months now and dont want to depend on them! Thank you for your positivity!
