hiv test anxiety

Greetings

I am going through a highly depressed phase. I need to come out of it. I had an HIV exposure 4 months back, and tested at 120 days post exposure , the result was negative. Many people consider this conclusive, but not my physician, who says 6 months is conclusive. I am experiencing stomach pains (gas retention) . I  need to focus on work again, I am 40 year old.

I feel I am crawling without knowing where I am heading ...

Please advise , how I can spiral upwards...

THanks

Where do you get the idea that medical science is wrong about the testing window?
If you aren't a researcher in the area working on a theory that all medical science has been wrong all this time after 100 million tests have been done, it is best to stick to known facts that he is past the testing window, rather than worry xxxscares that the science is not proven.

Be thankful for your life and the people in it that love you. Sex can be so alluring, but at what cost. I'd say you're in the clear and your symptoms are anxiety related, but it'd still wait a bit for further testing. If you use a condom and your wife wonders why, if you don't want to be honest with her, I'd at least say you just think its hot to pretend your you'd again and use protection, something different. Much luck. May peace be with you. Learn, grow and love life.

Your doctor is wrong.  6 months was the OLD testing window.  That changed back in 2004.  Three months is actually MORE than conclusive.  With the advancements in testing sensitivity, most HIV experts actually consider a negative at about 4-6 weeks definitive.

You definitely do NOT have HIV, and like anxiety860 stated, you actually never had an HIV risk to begin with and did not need to test.  Put this behind you and move on with your life.  If you don't, the anxiety will take hold and you will spend countless hours of life worrying about something that isn't a concern.  Like anxiety860 said, don't waste years of your life...heck, don't waste even another moment.

In regards to your wife, you cannot give her something you don't have.

Is it safe to assume that I can continue un protected sex with my wife.
I know I am cheap in putting my wife at risk, I am sure it will not happen again. I have even stopped drinking (zilch!!)

By my doctor gives me no assurances. That's where I am so worried.

DON'T BE. You are healthy. You NEVER had a risk. Your 4 month test means YOU ARE HEALTHY! Enjoy your life. I know you don't know me but trust me. YOU ARE NEGATIVE. I had an HIV fear/obsession for years. Waisted years of my life thinking I somehow caught this disease. After many negative tests and educating myself I learned that this disease is hard to catch and it is very rare. You never had a risk. You are negative. Don't waste years of your life like I did

Protected sex=no risk. Nobody has got HIV from oral sex (you won't be the first). You never had a risk. You're 4 month test proves you are negative. I would suggest not repeating this action though as it has causes you anxiety

3 months is conclusive. 120 days for sure. What was your risk? Your negative test at 120 days means you are negative. Yay! Your doctor may be saying 6 months to save their behind.. I'm not sure. But your 4 months negative means you're negative.
