Panic Attacks / Anxiety / Breathing issues.

What is the link between having a major panic attack and continuous anxiety that just continuously effects your breathing pattern?

I suffered a panic attack this past Monday, and my anxiety has yet to resolve, and my breathing is all messed up, literally feels like I am not breathing. - I constantly yawn to catch a breath, and sometimes they are incomplete yawns. Anything to make that better?  Anyone else have this issue?

Is Celexa addictive? I'm trying to avoid anxiety meds at all costs but sometimes I feel like I'm anxious for no reason. When I'm on the phone with someone, I pace around and around until the phone call is over, even though the conversation is not stressful in nature. I've done this since childhood when I had that long long phone cord and my parents would ya at me to " sit down and relax". Also, whenever I go somewhere, to a person's house, a picnic, a cookout, etc I stand the entire time and never sit. Everyone says, " sit down, take a load off " and I always say" no thanks, I'm just a stander." any opinions on this????

I was on Celexa or 6 months an it was a miracle drug for my anxiety. I am actually going to go back on it because my anxiety has kicked back in the past couple of weeks. The klonopin really helps until the Celexa kicks in.

Thank you for those words.

I went to my doctor today in which she took me off of the Wellbutrin as it was intensifying my anxiety. She added in Celexa 20mg once a day, I just took my evening dose and to be honest I feel so calm. She wanted to start me on a low dose rather than jumping ahead, I guess.

Now my medication list goes as follows. Celexa once a day. Then kolonopin 0.5mg 2x a day once in the morning and once at night, just until the Celexa kicks in to full affect. I will be seeing her next month to address if we need any changes.

Does celexa help anxiety though? Hmmm I wonder.

Hi Monica,

I was on Zoloft for a little over a year.  The highest dose prescribed by my doctor was 100 Mg.  This acts as an anti anxiety medication.   I am off of it now because it made me feel like a zombie.  Not to say it will do the same for you.  Everyone is different.

Personally, I feel getting help for panic attacks without the medications is the best solution for me.  This included ruling out any other illnesses that could cause these feelings.  Once all tests came back normal, I just reassured myself that these are just feelings, and they cannot harm you.  Even though it does not feel like it at the time.

But like I said, everyone is different.  If you truely need medication and it works for you,  there is nothing wrong with that.

Just remember you are not alone.  Best of luck to you.

Thank you. Just wondering are you on any types of medication for panic attacks / anxiety. I know many people say go and distract your mind but it can be really difficult. Please let me know. Thanks about the book.

I don't exactly know what brought it on but it literally happened right when I was trying to go to sleep - got me real scared. Now it's just lingering on it seems, the breathing part is the worst.

Hi.  I have had this problem before and still do.  I've learned that your fear of another attack amplifies your anxiety, especially after a panic attack.  There is a really good book about this.  It has helped me, and I hope it helps you too.  Its called "hope and help for your nerves ".  The author knows her stuff.

Best of luck to you!
