With all antidepressants the side effects happen well before the effects kick in. For me it was very sedating at first, and other side effects occurred with time. The effects did kick in as well. But most people do not quit having panic attacks completely just because they take a drug. Some do, but for most it just makes it a lot better than it was, not completely better.
When I was put on sertraline, I went from having maybe two panic attacks a week, to having at least one every day. I stopped taking it all together
Completely understand about the pill from getting rid of the panic attacks. I know when a person is on any pill for that matter will still get a attack, but should have noticed by now that the pill should be taking affect on me, but I know it hasn't been a complete 4 to 6 weeks for the full affect of the pill yet
I get them once a day as well but since the Paxil and both these affects it's making it tougher for me, but once I get to the full 4 weeks of the pill than I'll see if it's the right pills for me u know
You're right, though, to be carefully monitoring this. That's a good thing, I think, as long as it doesn't get obsessive or self-defeating. The reason is that some antidepressants just don't agree with some people, and one of those effects is an increase in anxiety -- after all, these drugs were developed to help people suffering depression who need a boost, not for those suffering anxiety, who need to come down. It just turned out to help some of those with anxiety as well, but any one of them can be overstimulating to some people. Which means, when you get to the six week mark and you feel you're worse off rather than the same or better, these drugs are better quit sooner rather than later when they aren't working, as they can be difficult to stop taking when you've been on them for an extended period of time. So keep monitoring, but with optimism.
I agree with Paxiled.
I think it's still too early to make any kind of call. I would give it at least 6 weeks, especially since you started out on a low dose. You may not even be to a therapeutic dose yet. These things take time. I know it's hard to wait it out, but that's really the only other option besides deciding you want off the medication.
Paxyl saved my life …. Ive been taking them for 13 years and they helped me with depression and anxiety but now i started to have panic atacks so they gave me xanax on top of paxyl so i hope it will work
