Shaking/Cant fall asleep

Hello. I am a 21 year old male. I am actually trying to fall asleep right now but when I close my eyes I start to shake all over the place. I also feel numbness in my legs. It's terrible. I can't fall asleep and have been trying for over an hour. I have recently had symptoms of anxiety and think that it could be due to this. I have recently hurt my back as well on the left side near my ribs. I did not go to the doctor for it, but it makes my side spasm a little. I just wanted to know if anybody knew what my shaking and or numbness could be caused from. Any help is appreciated. I am very worried, which also probably comes from anxiety.

Thankyou for the advice. I ended up falling asleep and waking up like twice in the night. I woke up fine. Legs are not numb but my head still feels a little heavy on the back side. I did hit my head on a cabinet yesterday(forgot to mention) so that could be why it hurts back there but not necessarily. But if that is what caused it I could have hit it hard enough to cause damage maybe. I'm not sure.

Good Morning,

I am 52 years old and I am in the mental health field and what your going
through is extremely normal-however unpleasant.  The overwhelming
likelihood is your suffering from anxiety.  I had a terrible problem with
anxiety and insomnia at that age and the worst part of it is that your
suffering from it for the first time and do not have the experience or
knowledege of what is happening-it is terrifying, but their are great
treatments for anxiety and it is more common at your age than at
anytime in your life.  If you can not sleep you must get out of bed
and read or watch T.V.  I can reassure you that it will pass.  However,
it is imperative that you see a Dr. for your other ailments and tell
him about your anxiety.  DO NOT LEAVE UNTIL HE HAS ADDRESSED
THIS MATTER.  You might have something bothering you unconsciously
and might need for him to recommend a therapist.  At 21 your brain
is not completly formed and your limbic system rather than your pre-frontal cortex can get your whole system in a excititory  state-relax
it will pass, but today you must discuss this with a professional and people
who are inclined to be empathetic about this matter.  By going to see a Dr.
you will kill 2 birds with one stone.  In the meantime,do something you enjoy or something different.  I know it is scary but once you understand it
and address it your home free...stay loose...by the way Elliot 777 gave you some great advice

Good Evening/Morning,
I can only share my experiences with you.  I suffered from severe anxiety for several years.  Bedtime frequently was the most difficult.  I learned NOT to stay in bed and fret, toss & turn.  I would get up, move to a comfy chair and do several deep breathimg exercises.  I'd pray too.

I am not a medical professional so I can't comment on your shaking or numbness.  However, I suggest you go to the clinic and get your back checked out.  Perhaps swelling is pressing on a nerve and causing these sensations when you are lying down.

Wish you well.  You are not alone.  Deep breathes.
