Sleep deprivation and anxiety

I was diagnosed with GAD earlier this year and have gone through horrific panic attacks, agoraphobia, and many other anxiety related nightmares but lately Ive been struggling with sleep deprivation...Every day for the past couple months I have not been able to sleep at a reasonable hour...I have to completely exaust myself to finally get to sleep and before I do, I go through a period of feeling "under the influence", as if im drunk or high...Maybe its the sleep deprivation combined with anxiety but Im not sure...Hoping for some good feedback thx

I had insomnia and resulted in panic attacks. My shrink put me on Paxil (antidepressant) and Ambien (sleep pill) and Klonopin (anxiety). I was weaned off  Ambien after 6 mos.  but kept on Paxil and Klonopin (as needed). These really helped me through. But be careful on Paxil , because it is very hard to wean off. Talk to your psychiatrist and see what's best for you. Any antidepressant will have side effects.

That's GAD.

Talk to your doctor.
