Tough week

Hi Everyone! I am hoping you guys can give me some advice on how to get through this week. It was one year ago this week that all of my problems started. It is the time of year where everyone in my family vacation, which leaves me home alone. This was never an issue before, but last year, during this vacation week, I brought myself to the ER with leg pain, and ended up being admitted for a Pulmonary Embolism and DVT. Since then, I have had anxiety, but mostly, I hate being alone for any period of time. Honestly, I didn't think it would bother me so much, so I decided to work this week, while my Boyfriend and his children go skiing. My parents are also in Florida this week. So it is de ja vu again this year. I will be fine, I was just hoping for some advice to help get me through the week.

Thanks!
Kristine

Thank you Both so much for your posts! I really appreciate the advice. Last night went well, I was in bed fairly early and slept great! I hope the rest of the week is the same! I am going to keep myself busy with visits from friends, and house cleaning :) It could use it, so why not :)

Thanks again! Its nice to have the support!

I agree totally with Mr Green's advice, and I can absolutely relate to your situation. I'm coming up on the year anniversary since the event that caused the onset of my chronic anxiety disorder. Last year, in late February, due to dehydration and lack of eating (brought on by health anxiety), I blacked out behind the wheel of my car and cracked my head on the windshield. I got over that, thank God with no serious injuries. But about a month after that, I experienced my first panic attack and since then, I've been experiencing a whole slew of symptoms, from lightheadedness and muscle buzzing, to feeling as though I'm going to black out.
Being around the same time of year as the initial incident, I've been more worried lately. I combat that by journaling and staying healthy. I have found that when I begin to experience anxiety symptoms, I either come onto this forum and talk to other people, or just write in my journal to clear my head. As Mr. Green said, nurture whatever hobbies you have. If you work out, go to the gym more regularly until your boyfriend gets back. See if there are friends around for a night at the movies or the bar.
I have gained so much support from this website. If you really start having a hard time this week, be sure to post something. You'll be surprised by how quickly people get back to you. And writing about your worries and getting them out in the open, I find, does wonders. Good luck and my prayers are with you.

I would try and find things to do. It is obvious that you are a day or year counter. You know exactly when it started last year. So this year you sat expecting it to hit you all over again. I do the same myself. Know when the good times should be and when the bad times normally kick in. This year I kept myself going. No lying around in my bed thinking. I was up and about. Watching dvds. Gaming. Going out in the mornings. Just trying to fill the day up. I think that's what you have to try and do. Give your mind that something else to focus on. Maybe a new hobby. Or an old one. Just to get you through the days. And good luck to you.
