Trazadone 50mg

Hi everyone.
I went to the doctors and saw a new doctor 5 weeks ago and he said he would take me off trazadone 50mg and to start taking fluoxetine i asked him when i take the fluoxetine he said today and in 4 weeks he will cut down my trazadone.
But the 4 week appointment he was not in so i cancelled it.
Now yesterday 11/12/13 i went to reorder my fluoxetine and trazadone and i got a call from the receptionist at 530pm saying i shouldn't be on both and that the doctor would ring me after he finished but he never rang so i was scared and didn't take the trazadone lastnight i only took the fluoxetine and one fluoxetine this morning.
I couldn't sleep lastnight and feel sick and anxious this morning.
I rang doctors up this morning and she said he would ring me after morning patients.
Ive been on trazadone for 2 years or less i was on 150 then down too 100 now im on 50mg and i do want to stop.
Im wondering if anyone knows how bad it gets and for how long.i was put on trazadone for depression anxiety

This why you'll see on here lots of advice to only do these drugs with a psychiatrist, and at that only one you interview first to make sure they understand the proper way to quit old drugs and start new ones to minimize discomfort.  General docs just don't usually know this stuff and how hard it is, and frankly most psychiatrists don't, either.  The proper way usually to do this according to published protocols is to first taper off the medication you want to quit taking as slowly as you need to before starting a new medication so you can tell what side effects are from quitting the old med and which are from starting the new one.  Hope this all works out for you.

I am only just being booked in to see a psychiatrist.
I mean my Dr has done the wrong things.
I been on trazadone for 2 years 150 then 100 then to 50mg and i took myself down because it made me feel bad.
I asked my doctor to come off the 50mg trazadone and he said he would bring me down off trazadone in 4 weeks but to take 20mg of fluoxetine and 50mg Trazadone until then.
And the transition from Trazadone to fluoxetine would be done.
But i had a call to say he wasn't in so my appointment got cancelled during the time i needed more trazadone and fluoxetine so i ordered it then got a call from the receptionist saying i shouldn't be taking both and the doc would ring me that night but he never so i stopped the trazadone that night all together and just had fluoxetine 20mg i was scared.
I rang up dr and went mad because he never rang and he said to now up my dose of fluoxetine to 40mg and quit the Trazadone even though i already had.
Now i was ment to get a call this monday from him to see how things are going but i got nothing again so i didn't bother because I've got this far alone with no assistance off anyone.
Now i only take 40mg fluoxetine and zopiclone cause i can't sleep at night but tonight i am trying sleeping without zopiclone

I think you need a different psychiatrist.  I know this is hard to do, but if what you say is how this is happening you're getting odd treatment.  Are you saying you had an appointment but the psychiatrist wasn't there?  That you've been on a med for two years and the psychiatrist isn't tapering you slowly off before putting you on a new med?  And that this psychiatrist isn't responding to you?  If this is how it's happening, you need a better doctor.

I'm kind of surprised your Dr does'nt want to do more of a taper with the Trazadone.
You should safely be able to take something for your stomach. Prilosec maybe. Your pharmacist will know.
I hope you feel better soon too.

He called back and i told him i stopped taking trazadone yesterday and i take that at night same time and i only did this because the receptionist had phone to say i shouldn't take both even though the doctor told me too.
So now i have to take 40mg fluoxetine only (Dr has upped it from 20mg to 40 mg) and no Trazadone
I have to take the fluoxetine everyday same time.
I couldn't sleep lastnight well and when i woke up the anxiety was at its high and has stayed most of the day but hopefully it will get better.
Im not eating now because i am suffering from acid reflux real bad i can't even drink tea without me in agony.
And that makes me more anxious
But Thankyou for your reply x

You should take the Fluoxetime at the same time everyday. You took one last night and then one again this morning? Don't take another one until tomorrow morning. You can have start up side effects when starting a new med. This can include increased anxiety. The side effects usually get better in a few days.
I hope your Dr does call you back. This med should be tapered with the help of your Dr. If he does'nt call by mid day give him a call.
