Ok is this normal

ok so first i want to thanks anyone that can share any light on this. I have had very bad anxiety the last year i didnt realize it was anxiety and where it was coming from, I felt like anxious headache and like i would pass out. Well i went to my doctor and he prescribed a anti anxiety, it has helped alot but some days i had to cut another in half and take another piece. Well I was scared that this would help me through this problem but not solve any potential problem or underlying issue so i went back tot the doctor.I admitted to him the last year i havent slept well at all and wake up at least once during the middle of the night. My gf and I broke and it crushed me i know time would make me feel better without pills but i told him i have been snapping at people the last year, he then prescribed me zoloft but the genetric brand.Im currently looking for a job and dont have health insurance and i was let go at the beginning of the year. My question is there anything bad that can happen from taking both if i dont need the anti depressansts, also the second day taking the anti depression along with the anti anxiety i felt out of breath rapid heartbeat and dizzy. Will this go away should i call my doctor? is this normal ? also My doctor told me i could have drinks socially while on just the anti axienty if i took them in the mornings and allowed a couple hours to pass, can i drink socially at night if i take both the zoloft and the anti axienty both in the morning ?

Now what you're saying is you do have a longstanding anxiety problem.  That's probably why the doc gave you Zoloft -- they help long-term, while benzos only help for the short time they're active in the body and they're also an addictive drug.  Have you ever been in therapy for this?

Im on 50MG sertraline third day on it, and I've been on lorazepam .5MG been on for about 2 months, the lorazepam helped a lot and helped me become ok in public but then I had a bad breakup and didn't eat for about a weekend and things started to look better I started eating again but I'm scared that I have a anxiety disorder and that once I'm done taking the lorazepam for months it won't fix my underlying issues. If I'm be honest I feel that everyday stress and axiety was made worse by the lee workout that I took for over a year like an idiot, I went to the hospital for a anxiety attack I haven't go that bad again but going to public places it tough me after that until the doctor gave me the lorazepam after my breakup I went again and he thought perhaps with the lack of sleeping and the lack of a job I needed it but es making me feel worse. I don't like taking the sertraline I called my doctor we'll see what he says

Oh, and alcohol is always contraindicated when you're on medication for mental disorders.  That doesn't mean we never drink it, but it's never considered okay because alcohol can be disorienting in itself and trigger anxiety, and it can magnify the effects of your medications and they can magnify the effects of alcohol.  Again, I'd guess most of us do drink once in awhile, but it's wrong to say it's "approved."

My understanding is you just started Zoloft in generic form.  Your side effects could indeed be from starting the Zoloft -- side effects from antidepressants can include increased anxiety and a feeling of stimulation and all sorts of other things.  The drug doesn't really generally start to work until 4-6 weeks for most people, but the side effects start right away.  My own take is the benzo, if you're taking it daily, is more problematic in the long term than an antidepressant usually, but individuals really vary a lot in how they feel on medication.  Drugs are weird, and drugs for the brain are really weird, as our brains are really weird.  Now, my opinion is, you should only use the benzo as needed, not on a regular basis, as it's the safest way and the easiest to stop taking down the road, and that if the reason you feel you need an antidepressant is because you're grieving a bad breakup, it's probably a bad idea.  It might suppress your grief, but you don't want to do that, you want to get past it.  Grief isn't a mental illness.  Relaxation exercises such as deep breathing and meditation might do just as much for your snapping as an antidepressant, as they can make your personality more aggressive -- or not, it's an individual thing.  Therapy can also help if it's that bad, but nobody gets out of a relationship unscathed.  Only time heals it, as you say, an antidepressant doesn't.  As for combining a benzo with an antidepressant, it's a common thing to do for those with chronic anxiety, but that doesn't seem to describe you.  If it does, that's a different story.

What anti anxiety are you taking? Also drinking socially should be fine. What isn't ok is drinking 3 beers and popping a Xanax.

Also what underlining issue are you worried about?
