Wellbutrin and Abilify weight gain?

i. I have been taking Wellbutrin for the last 3 months with good results, no side effects.  I am currently taking 450mg.

My doctor added Buspar last month and I had to come off as I became suicidal and extremely manic.

He added Abilify to my Wellbutrin today for my irritability and moods.  It is just 2.5mg for now. I have avoided meds for years for the fear of weight gain. I know for a fact many people say Abilify makes them gain extreme amounts of weight.  I was wondering if anyone know about taking the bupropion and abilify would still cause such an increase in weight gain?

I want to get better but it’s so hard to get this phobia of gaining weight out of my head.

Nobody knows -- people react differently.  A weight gainer for some isn't for others.  I do question why you're adding a drug if the wellbutrin is working well -- they tend to work better the longer you take them.  Buspar usually doesn't work that well, but my guess is, wellbutrin is the most stimulating anitdepressant out there short of taking speed, and you're posting on the anxiety forum so I'm guessing you suffer from anxiety.  The drug you're taking is usually for depression, so I'm guessing the fact it's working is a sign your major problem is depression, with anxiety being caused by the depression.  The irritability and moods is a common side effect of taking antidepressants, any of them, depending on the person, and more so with the more stimulating ones.  Abilify is a drug with a lot of side effects and not a great record of success in trials, and was approved only when all other antidepressants hadn't worked.  But some have found it a useful drug to add a small amount to another drug that is working but not completely.  Only time will tell you how it will affect you, unfortunately, as it's all trial and error.  Usually, for someone with a major anxiety problem enough to require medication, wellbutrin would be used as an add-on to an ssri if the ssri caused sexual and weight problems, as it doesn't usually cause them.  That's probably because of the stimulating nature of the med.  But just know that weight gain isn't a universal, it's dependent on the person -- I've taken several meds over the course of my illness and only one caused significant weight gain.  It is what it is.
