What are the best ways to take your mind off of things and avoid high anxiety?

Lately every little thing sets me off to the point where I cry and am afraid to sleep due to how high my anxiety gets.
Usually about health concerns due to not knowing anything about how the body works or when to be concerned about stuff.
Tonight it was about being able to feel a floating rib (still can, right under the skin) and the fact that my left side of my rib cage is out farther than my right (my right is regular, flat. where as my left is out farther, not flat like it should be at all).
Obviously I'm still having difficulties getting my mind off of them and other issues. I get so worked up I cant sleep and actually am afraid to do so. I'm aware that its based on my high anxiety, so If anyone can give me suggestions on how to take your mind off of things/avoid the high anxiety that'd be amazing. (answers to the rib issues welcome as well, as they were not like this two days ago.)

It sounds like you might want to see a psychologist, a professional, who can help you with this if it's gotten to this point.  We can tell you to distract yourself, read a book, exercise, meditate, etc. but we can't stop you from thinking this way.  That will take some work, and therapy is a good place to do it before this become a more intense problem.

Your ribs didn't change over the last 2 days, and certainly none are floating, but you studied them then  and think you noticed that they are different. Self-diagnosis is generally very inaccurate, so if you do therapy they will try to help you stop over-analyzing your body so you will have more time to focus on things that you will find interesting.
Volunteering or studying a philosophy are two options that will help give you life experiences you can draw upon when you feel anxious.
