You need to see your doctor as soon as possible to rule out a physical reason for your panic attacks. If nothing is organically wrong, then you need to get a referral to a good therapist and get to the root cause of this rather sudden onset of panic.
There is help for what you're going through. And don't they say that God helps those who help themselves?

I just wanted to say I am going through the same thing. Panic attacks have taken over my life completely. I purchased a book online called " Panic Attacks Workbook" by Dr. Carbonell. It is useful , but as we know struggling with panic is not as easy to do as it is said. I pray everyday all day too....... It is a debilitating disease that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, if I had one. I panic all day long , sometimes going to the ER .Hang in there .... Best wishes and keeping you in my prayers.
This isn't a sudden onset of panic I was first diagnosied at the age of 14. But I have never had it this bad or this long. I have had a rough couple years and I believe it's all came to a head. Thank you all for the encouragement.
Hi Valeriemarie,
I too had panic attacks after a heart problem I was diagnosed with many years ago. They subsided until just a couple of months ago- it came back and brought its friends, general anxiety disorder, and depression, and IBS!. I went to hospital twice thinking something was seriously wrong with me, but all my tests came back fine- I'm still going to gastro to rule out anything in my stomach (appt. on Sept 3rd for colonoscopy/endoscopy) however, my GP thinks its all being caused by depression/anxiety- I too purchased the Panic Attacks Workbook by David Carbonell, Ph.D. and I have learned a lot from it- but for me, I also was prescribed an antidepressant. I got an anxiety attack the day before I was going to start on them because just the thought of having to go on meds was nerve wracking. The first one he put me on made me actually made me feel WORSE and I didn't think I could feel any worse than I already was! He switched me to a different one and have been on it for 1 week. So far I feel things improving- Still get a blip here and there, but I do feel hopeful that this new med is working for me. The problem is, they take up to 4-6 weeks to give you full benefit and when you feel so bad that seems like an eternity! I'm reading up on meditation and I too pray every day for the strength to keep on going. I know how scary it is, but try and remind yourself that panic attacks have a start and they always have an end- Ask yourself if its an uncomfortable "symptom" like shortness of breath, tingling all over, major fear, that you can get through by not fighting it and learning ways to manage it, or are you in true danger? (Learned that from Dr. Carbonell's workbook!) - You can overcome this! Just be gentle with yourself- take as much time as you need to recover... Best of luck:)
