muscle weakness, shakiness, joint pan

Hi there,

I'm 21 female...new to this site!! Any thought I would see if anyone can relate to what i'm experiencing-

5 months ago i started having joint pain- all joints, even walking up one step would ache my knees. gradually since then my muscles have gradually gotten weak- if i lift my hands over my head they feel so weak, so its hard to even dry my hair etc. The tendons (i think) in my arm and back of my legs feel strained too. Sometimes i feel internally shakey all over the body, more so when i think about it! The weakness seems to be gradual but gotten a lot worse in the aftermath of a bout of gastroenteritis which i was in hospital for. they did blood tests and the only thing flagged up was low thyroid levels- they repeated the blood test 2 months later and found the levels had returned to normal and it was left at that. I've also felt mild nausea for about 8-9 months- not that im ever sick, its mainly when i wake up, and varies throughout the day, sometime i forget about it so it cant be that bad!

The key part perhaps... i am a HIGHLY anxious person and i recently restarted university after time out- i had left due to a personal problem with people at uni and have been worked up about returning. I worry all the time about various things, and am convinced ive got Multiple sclerosis or something really bad! its the first thing i think about when i wake up :(

can anyone help??? MS or stress???

thanks,

Clare

Can anyone advise???

You mentioned they tested your thyroid in the hospital and it was low. Have it checked again because you do have symptoms of low thyroid.
We have a thyroid forum here at Medhelp. Will you post your symptoms there?
Your weakness, anxiety and stomach problems are symptoms of low thyroid. I'm not saying that's what it is for sure because I'm not a Dr.
Can you have your Dr do blood work? Ask for TSH, FT3, FT4 and antibodies testing. These are thyroid tests.I'm thinking that when you were in the hospital they only checked your TSH which is not the only indicator of low thyroid. Take care. Remar

It may be a combination of stress and some medication side effects that are worsened by stress. Speak to your psychiatrist about it.
