neurology

tingling in left cheek, left hand pinky
about 3 days ago the tingling in my left cheek, left pinky & top part of my left foot started..went to see my doctor the next day..all tests done were fine(vision,feelings,reflexes,eyes..etc). he recommended an MRI and he said that he thinks it's based on stress & anxiety..
on the 3rd day, the symptoms dissapeared ,but returned the following day..sometimes i feel the tingling in my jaw & partially on my lips(all on the left side of the face). going on my 5th day with these symptoms, i only have the cheek/lower jaw tingling..it's been pretty alarming since i have never experienced anything like this before...i've been on every website researching this & it all points to a stroke/mini stroke(but i did not experience any of the symtoms listed for having a stroke..)...( I'm not sure if experiencing the loss of a close friend has anything to do with having these symtoms..one of my close friend passed away from brain aneurysm 3 weeks prior to my symptoms starting..)..
any advice, answers or simply comments will be appreciated..
thank you,
Dan.

Hi Dan......it's good that you have ruled out all other causes for your symptoms!  Anxiety can and does present with these symptoms, and since you just lost a close friend, I would venture to say it's anxiety.  You may be feeling the loss and maybe fearing the same could happen to you which is common.  But it's important that you address this now with a psychiatrist for an evaluation and he can refer you to the proper therapist. If you read the posts on here you will see that many suffer with symptoms like yours, so know you're not alone.  There is help for this via therapy and/or medication and the sooner you seek help the sooner you can feel better.  I think losing your friend plays a huge role in this and therapy can teach you how to cope with your loss.  I'm so sorry about your friend, but make sure you go through the grieving process.  Not doing this creates anxiety, due to unresolved feelings and emotions.  Most of us need help at some time....that's why it's there.  Address your anxiety and the loss of your friend so you can feel better. Journal your feelings and emotions, it's a great form of release for us even if you just write and throw each page away.  Exercise is great for anxiety, keeping your mind and body busy as well.  I just re-read your post and I'm not comfortable when a doctor says "thinks" it's based on stress and anxiety.  If you haven't seen a Neurologist for a check-up, I would do so.  He is specialized in the anything else that may be causing your symptoms, and can put your mind at ease. It's always best to error on the cautious side. Then address the anxiety.  I wish you all the best.

Anxiety can cause any symptom really, however theres alwasy a concern for realy health issues, I would recommend getting the test and following up . If everything comes out okay, maybe you should see a therapist and or psychiatrist. I have had to get tests for heart and other things and learn theres nothing physically wrong, its all in my head. But stress can cause problems in your body. So get checked and try to find ways to relax. Follow up with your doctor , good luck
