problem remembering

People have said once you have kids you have a hard time concentrating because you are always interruped and focusing on what is going on with everything.
I believe its true.  I have been on citraplam and I do feel it makes me spacey.

My questions is can the medicine (anti-depressants) make you not be able to focus?

I am going to school and I really need to get my brain back.  I am 38years old that doesn't help either.

Thanks for letting me I am not the only one out there that needs that boost to figure out how to remember.

Yes, If I ever figure it out I will bottle it up and send it your way....

You are right when we were young it was about  us...Now its about all of us
so I can see where the overwhelming thoughts can come from.

Thanks for the positive feed back.

I have to say this thread makes me smile.  My daughter asked me the same thing. Why she couldnt focus on the thing's she used to be able to. She has two boy's 2 and 3. Need I say more.

And YES, antidepressants can cause this affect. You have to remember that this medication is working on the brain. You have not lost your brain, believe me. You can go back to school and do what you have to do. If I, at 51 can do it, you at 38 can do it.

Good luck to you..

Go figure, when we were in high school, our parents gave us a room, a desk, a desk lamp and quite time so we could do our homework. So what did we do? We played records, watched TV, talked on the phone and ate potato chips, THAT's what we did!

So NOW that we are adults, we try to find a quite corner, get away from the TV, let the answering machine take care of the phone and stay out of the chips. So what happens? Our kids drive us NUTZ, THAT's what happens. So we take some meds for that -and can't concentrate!

Yeah, the meds can sure do that, depending on the med and person taking it, the time of day, what you had for dinner and heaven knows what else, but yeah, they can do that.

I guess this is another one of those "ask your doctor" type questions for the meds, but I think among the first things I'd try is to select a different time to hit the books -like very early in the morning or some other niche in time when distractions are at a low roar. But you knew that.

Lady, all I can say is: I admire you. And if you figure out how to make all this work I'm beggin' you not to keep it a secret. It is clear you have the will to do it so I'm sure you'll find a way. Oops! Tommy just spilled his milk on the floor and the cat threw up!

Gotta run.

Hang in!
