Definitely extra calcium and hi-potency B vitamins. Calcium is a natural soother while the B vitamins are great for stress & anxiety.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this on the forums but I highly recommend the book Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 4th Edition (Paperback) by Phyllis A. Balch. It is my BIBLE. Talks about all vitamins, minerals, some therapies, and of course over 300 conditions. *hugs the book*
I heard that magnesium is what we anxiety folk need. Apparantly, the stress our body suffers from anxiety depletes our magnesium reserves. Magnesium helps us cope with stress, we sleep better, our mood is better etc etc
I have just started taking a course of Magnesium Citrate (easily absorbed by the body) and will post back in a few weeks to let you know if it works.
My Dad took St Johns Wort as he was feeling depressed and a "little jumpy", he felt better after 1 week and now those dark feelings are the thing of the past. He did tell his doctor he was taking it though because of any interactions.
You might check into borage oil and suntheanine.
I also heard about St. Johns Wort, but don't take it with anything else. You can go to a bookstore and read about it first. The books will give you more details on it and along with the side effects.
My husband had double bleeding on the brain and went through burr hole surgery to relieve the pressure on the brain . He is doing fine but anxiety has been so hard to get past. He use to run and work out everyday and don't like taking no medicine so when this started he refuse to take antidepressents and after 9 months has agreed to take St.Johns Wort and he is doing so much better after a few days on this and now a week and half he feels so much better and his blood pressure would go up and down from anxiety and it is staying really good also. I wish we would have tried it a few months ago. He takes one 300mg in the morning and one at night. And he isn't so grouchy anymore and that has been great!
