the feeling you get, when something scares you....?

ok, i have had anxiety for about 9 yrs now. i went through one hell of a depression episode about 4 yrs ago. i have been to ton's of doc's, therapist, u name it... I probley have done it.  so far i hav been able to cope with my anxiety with the help from med's from my doc. my worst time is as soon as i wake up, my pupils are dialated. im shakey, and when i take my klonipin 0.5 mgs i am fine....normall, i think. i take cymbolta 60 mgs every 2 days, because it is to strong. my problems is, my husband just had surgery tuesday and about two weeks before his surgery and still last night, my stomach has the butterfly feeling and it feels like my heart hurts. any noise, touch, movement sets that feeling off. in my mind i am okay, not scared, not stressed---i think, but it still happens, i remember a couple of days ago i forgot to take the cymbolta so i got up and took it. in about thirty min.s i felt fine and feel asleep.  and as for the rest of the nights i will finally gave up fighting the feeling and go take 1/2 of klonipin and about 15 mins later i would fall asleep. and one week ago i had a full physical, bloodwork and everything came out fine.  any advise????

thankyou,
kalie

You are definitely NOT crazy.  During times of stress anxiety can peak...your husband had surgery and that would cause my anxiety to shoot up if my wife was having surgery.  Remember, that with life, anxiety will ebb and flow...focus on the long term because we all have down times in the short term.  You are also doing the right thing by taking control of this and working closely with your doctor...in my opinion, being proactive is very smart on your part...keep us posted!

thankyou for your post. and its nice to hear that i am not crazy and remind myself its anxiety. i do not like the way cymbolta makes me feel, so i plan to go to the doctor to see if i can get back on lexapro. that stuff seems to be the best for me..   :-)

love,

Yes, oh, yes....I am a mirror of you...meds different though...Paxil, buspar and an occasional klonopin...mornings are the worst.....

Most of the times, I pretty ok...bouts of the anxiety here and there....

I think that the whole situation of your husband and his surgery definitely had an effect on you.  Many times, you get the anxiety AFTER the fact, and worse than before it.  Any change in life, especially a stressful one, creates anxiety.  Give yourself some time and get back into your normal routine...you should begin to feel fine again.

Also, even when things stay normal, it will creep up every now and then anyway...but, don't pay it no mind and it will go away...it is like cycles....trust me, I know, been doing  this 14 years now!

Also, ask your doc about Buspar in conjuction with the Cymbalta...I found the Buspar to help TREMENDOUSLY with anxiety symptoms...especially in the mornings!

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Why can't you take the Cymbalta every day?  Most SSRI's or SNRI's are taken on a daily basis to keep you on a steady course.  I take Klonopin and I don't wake up shaking, in fact I wake up relaxed.  Klonopin only keeps you steady when taken two to three times a day.  Ask your Doc about preventing the anxious feeling rather than treating it when it creeps up on you.

Hmmm....all of us "anxiety folks" seem to share symptoms!
The dilated eyes are from Klonopin, which helps me sleep too!
I'm thinking that you might be having normal anxiety over your hubby's surgery, but we are all so aware of body symptoms and afraid that anxiety in all its evil force will return, that we forget there are times when it is normal to feel anxious.  If the symptoms worsen, I'd talk to the doctor about doses of meds.  Good luck, and here's hoping that it will all settle down and leave you alone!
