Me, too.  My family doesn't want to hear one more word, that's why I'm here.  And yes, my anxiety started just "out of the blue".  Nursegirl is right.  That's what makes it so scary, at least for me.  One minute I was fine, my whole life previous to that minute had been fine.  Then everything changed literally in the space of a minute.  That was almost 22 years ago...  One can't help but think, gosh if something that bad can happen with no warning, just out of the blue what else could happen.  But, hey.  Those types of thoughts get you nowhere.  And after all I am still here, right?  Still breathing.  Still living.  And grateful for it, too!

BTW - I feel the same way about my family.  They say they don't mind but I know that they are sick of me. I've been keeping a journal that I write in when I feel like no one wants to listen.

I'm sorry that you are going through this. I have the same thing.Waking in a panic, random dizziness, etc.  The first time was about 2 years ago. I've looked everywhere for a cause. Thyroid, cardiac, hormones, nutrition, etc.  I've literally had a million dollar work up. What really helps is: occasional anti-anxiety meds, when it's really bad ( I try not to use them but sometimes you just have to) ; psychotherapy-biofeedback and learning how to cope and nutritional changes. Some foods really do trigger the symptoms, conversley, lack of certain nutrition can have the same effect on me.   The bottom line is that millions of people have this and medical science has very few answers. No one can tell you why it happens or if it's ever going to end. It's really up to you. Make sure that you get a complete physical from a good doctor. Get a good therapist who understands anxiety / panic. And most importantly, take an active role in your health. Ask questions, decide with your doctors if meds are right for you or if you'd rather seek alternative treatments (they are out there) or do what I do,  a little of both. Good luck and feel better.

Yes it really sounds like anxiety. I felt that way last night actually. I hate it! I think you should do what you are comfortable with. If your family has anxiety as well, are they helpful in understanding and helping you through it?

Did he give you a reason for wanting the MRI? It could be all anxiety, but possibly there is something that they want to rule out with the MRI, I would talk to them and ask what it is he wants you to have it done for.
My anxiety can come out of nowhere, I can be fine watching tv and suddenly feel horrible, I am glad you are seeing someone and hope that they are able to help you feel better soon

Hello and welcome to the forum!  Actually the "out of the blue" characteristic is one of the MOST common aspects of anxiety disorders, specifically panic disorder.  It's also one of the things that make it so frustrating!

Since this is new to you and you don't seem to have a history of anxiety, your best bet would be to take a trip to your doc and rule out any medical cause for your symptoms...as there are several medical culprits that mimic anxiety and panic....ie, thyroid abnormalities, hormonal imbalances, etc.  Once you've ruled out a medical cause, then I would suggest a referral to a psychiatrist, there you can be thoroughly assessed and given an accurate diagnosis, then learn about your treatment options.  The quicker you start addressing this, if it is anxiety...the faster you can hopefully get a handle on it.

We're here for you....any questions you may have, for support, anything.  Anxiety is unfortunately very common with many people suffering from it, so if that's what you're dealing with, you're far from alone and better days are ahead!
