Does anyone on here have to take prometrium?

If so what is your progesterone level? I had mine drawn at 17dpo (found out I was pregnant on 14dpo) and it was 19.9 and my nurse said that its up to me if I take the prometrium or not. Does that number sound good? So I don't know what to do for sure, maybe just take it once a day unstead of twice a day. Any advice would be appreciated!

I've been taking it every cycle a few days after ovulation after a m/c in feb where my progesterone was low.  I take 2 -200mg pills at bedtime.  My OB said it can't hurt so that's why I opted to take it.  The only downside is having to take it until about 13 weeks.  Once you start it, you can't stop till the placenta is there & on its own.

I asked to be put on it as an "insurance policy", my sister had multiple miscarriages before they realized she had low progesterone issues.  Her and I are so alike, I didn't want to risk it.  My progesterone levels were 28 on 18dpo...and m,y nurse said that was fine.  I think your numbers were fine too....but better safe than sorry with these sort of things.  : )

Trytrygain84:Thanks for the information I think I will stay on it as well. I was taking 1x100mg morning and night for 14 days past ovulation just for precaution because they never did any test that said my progesterone was low. What is your dosage and schedule? I would love to take 2x100mg at night since it kinda messy for the morning.:) Guess I could ask the nurse what she thinks but its hard to get answer from her ususally its "up to you". Oh well  once I can hear the heart beat on Aug. 27th I know I will feel better .

prayingforpatience: Thanks for the information. My nurse said the same thing but she also said there is no proven risks or benefits of taking progesterone while pregnant? So thats why she left it up to me. I haven't heard of any research of too high of progesterone being bad for the baby have you? Anyways I will stay on my 1x100mg twice a day for now.  Thanks again.

I take the capsules and the dose is 200mg at bedtime.  Ask your nurse about switching to the capsule...no mess, and you can take the one dose.

So my RE said I should stop taking the prometrium at 11-12 weeks, but OB should do an ultrasound at that time to make sure it was okay to stop.

I take this as well, I insert one suppository at night (200 mg). My level is at about 33. With my first, I was on it until 11 weeks. My DR said I could stop at 8 weeks, but I asked to stay on. They said no harm. I will do the same with this one. Or if I go off, I will insist they monitor my levels a few days after. With my daughter my level was always about 15. Anything over 10 is fine.
