So when are you going to share your news?

We are not planning to tell everyone till the beginning of October, but wanted to see when everyone else was sharing their news and how are you doing it?  We have an 11 year old who really enjoys being an only child, so not sure how to tell him.  Any ideas? We want him to be first and we'll probably let him tell everyone else.

My mom is coming in town this weekend so we decided to tell her then so it'll be in person.  Since we want to tell our son first, we've decided to tell him tonight.  He's a little old for some of the really cute ways to let siblings know.  A video game he has been wanting badly just came out.  He's been talking about it for months.  I pre-ordered it and got it yesterday.  It came in this neat box that slides out with a few other game things.  We are going to put a note on top of the video game that says, "Big brother, I hope you'll teach me how to play this when I get older."  We just couldn't think of anything else.  What I know for sure - he'll be more excited about the game, then our announcement. :)

We are still going to wait to tell others.  I just know I won't be able to keep it from my mom this weekend.  If my bb's get any bigger, I won't be able to keep it from anyone else for long either. lol

I am in the same boat as hkenny. We have told family and close friends but we aren't going to tell 'the world' until 12 or 14 weeks. We will tell 'the world' probably via Facebook. We previously had a daughter at 27 weeks and she passed away 16 days later so we don't want to dissapoint anyone if something else happens. But we will have to see!

Very cute idea with the Halloween right around the corner.  I love it!

We live by most of our family and are making a trip to see some of the others that live out of town to tell them.  It just happens to fall right with timing.  I understand about the comments like that.  I hope we don't get anything like that either.  We have one relative that I know that has been praying for this to happen for us every day for over a year so I will be more than happy to have her say something along those lines.  She knows everything we've been through as she's been there herself.  But that's it! ;)

My hubby and I and doctors are the only ones that know.  My son was going through the pictures on our digital camera and asked what the picture was of the HPT with the word pregnant on it.  I told him I didn't know and quickly erased it.  Not sure if he's old enough to figure it out yet.  Very close call.

This is my idea:

By Mid-October, I'll be about 14 weeks.  I have my first ultrasound NEXT WEDNESDAY!  WOOT!  Anyway, from the images I get, I am going to scan the best one and blow it up to the size of about 5 x 8.  Then I'm going to take a black piece of construction paper, fold it in half, past the image on the bottom half.  Then on the top half, I am going to write, "It's ALIVE!" and maybe include a personal note.  Then, I will close it up and punch to holes about 3 inches apart, and put some sheer orange ribbon through and tie it up.  I am sending these to all my girls friends/friends who know how long we've been trying.  They better cry tears of joy for us and I better be getting phone calls! ;)

For family, I think we'll get on Skype and say, (my husband is a medical resident) "So, Mom and Dad, I was at the hospital today, and Vanessa came in to see me, and we left with this:"  And we'll show them a picture of our ultrasound!  And they'll flip.  And say something stupid like, "See, I told you it would happen!"  (That'll **** me off!  They have NO idea how we've suffered and how many tears we've cried, and how HARD we've been trying for this.  A comment like that would irritate me!  Am I wrong!?)

We don't live near ANY family.  Closest family is like 2000 miles away.  (blows, I know!)  So I think Skype would be appropriate!

I am excited to tell everyone.  The only people that know is my dentist, my husband and myself!

I know what you mean.  I want to tell my best friend so bad it is killing me, but hubby wants to wait.  We have been through two m/c's this year and are both a little apprehensive.

We have told close family and friends who was by our sides through our IVF journey but we aren't telling "everyone" until I get to 14 wks :-)  When I had my m/c in 2008 I told everyone right away that we were pregnant and that was the worse to have to tell them all that I lost the baby.....it just made the situation that much harder.  So we are gonna play it safe and wait this time around!  But it is killing me because I want to scream it to the world right now....LOL.

We have told our close family and friends but wont tell "the world" until I am 12 weeks. Not really sure how we will tell, I guess it will just come out?
A friend of mine has an 8 yr old and when they told her they got her a t-shirt that said I am going to be a bis sister October 2010. They got her to read it, being she was only in gr 1 it took a bit for her to get it but she was shocked and surprised. ( they recorded it) Then they just got her to wear the shirt to tell everyone else.
