Sounds like it is time to get back to the doctor to see what has happened with your back since his last exam of it.  Since exercise does not seem to help it, it is likely osteoarthritis as inflamatory forms are suppose to feel better with exercise (I am told, not exactly my experience, but I may be the exception.)  Could be you need something stronger than aleve to get relief.  Please let us know what you find out.
