Hi there!  You are not too young for arthrtis!  (I hate reading that a doc has said that.)  If you think you have it and your father has AS, you should get to a different doctor and have yourself tested.  AS is part of a family of conditions called spondylotharapies and includes AS, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, enteropatic arthritis and undifferientiated spondyloarthropathy.  Any doctor who thinks you are too young simply does not have enough knowledge and expertise in this area to treat you effectively.  If you do have one of these conditions or another form of arthritis, you need to get diagnosed and start a treatment plan.  You might have noticed this is a hot button issue for me. ;)  Early diagnosis is key to prognosis so I hate to see any one delayed unnecessarily.  Look forward to hearing back from you!

My dad has ankylosing spondylitis.  I know alot about it and still learning. I am not suffering from back pain myself.  I KNOW I have arthritis although my current doctor feels I am to young for it.( I am 33). My father was born and lived in the United States most his life but a few years ago moved to Australia.

Hello guys. I am Bhushan Ghate. I am from Nagpur, MS, India. I am suffering from ankylosing spondylitis since 1989. I am bedridden since 1996. But from few days i am able to walk with the help of walker. My bone density is too low. My doctor said that my bone density match to the bone density of 100-105 year old person. I am ankylose from neck to knee. That means i am having  bamboo spine & my complete hip & both knees are ankylose. I had to undergo complete hip & both knee replacement surgery. But because of low bone density & my ankylosing spondilitis is still active, doctor has said no to replacement. Hope may be in future it will be possible. I want to meet & know people who are suffering from any type of arthritis or spondylitis. Also want to share my experince with thoes people who are intrested in arthritis or spondylitis.
