chronic pain in feet

my left foot feels like it has a hard core about the size of a small brick which causes constant pain.  it gets worse as the day goes on.  it only gets better when I'm off my feet for several hours, as in overnight.  the doc says it "may be arthritis"
any thoughts?

Mine is the right foot near the ankle area and gets worse as the day goes and looks kinda swollen near the back  at the end of the day.

Is the pain just below your toes, kind of near the ball of your foot?  Does it feel like the foot is on fire and being stabbed at the same time?
