Sand fly bites keep coming

Hi
I'm currently backpacking around the world, and almost 2 months ago I went to Indonesia, where I got badly bitten by sand flies. Since then I've been in China, where I kept getting a few new bites, so I started washing all of my clothes. Though I recently started getting more new ones, and think I have approximately 10-12 now.

I've been trying to Google it, but people disagree on whether they lay eggs in your skin or in your skin? I have no idea how to get rid of them, and I can't just leave all of my things.

I really hope you can help!

Thank you very much for your help. Where can I buy the chemical? In pharmacies or do I need to go to a specialist store?

Thanks for using the forum.

I recommend that you get your skin checked by a doctor to make sure that there is nothing under the skin and that no infections are developing. There are insects that can lay eggs under your skin. You want to make sure that is not what is causing your "bites" and treat it if necessary. Next step is to check your clothing, sleeping gear, and backpack itself. All of these need to be cleaned an make sure there are no bugs present. I recommend treating them with a  chemical called promethium. This is an insecticide that will kill bugs on contact. It is sold in sprays and soaks to treat your clothing, tent, backpack and sleeping bag. The chemical is good for a certain number of washes. I also recommend that you use an insect repellent with 30-50 % DEET. to prevent further bites. You have to be very careful with insect bites. Malaris, Yellow Fever, Dengue Fever, Japanese Encephalitis are just a few of the diseases that are spread by mosquito bites.

I hope this helps.
