Bisoprolol and ativan

Hi.

I was prescribed 1mg Ativan for a trip I will be taking... I was just wondering if there can be drug interactions between the  Ativan and Bisoprolol?  I have quite low blood pressure and heart rate, and wouldn't want them going much lower...

Thanks so much for any information...

No, I don't think the Ativan will lower your blood pressure too much. It is actually an infrequent side effect of the medication. You were not rude at all. Have a safe trip.

Hi,

Thank you for your response...I hope I didn't sound rude, :)  I was sure I had posted in the wrong place as I am forum challenged!   I am taking it for SVT and VT.  It has controlled both of those really well.  I always had low blood pressure and heart rate (when I am not having SVT!), the bisoprolol had dropped it very little, so I was able to stay on it.  For eg. my BP was 100/70 and now it's about 95/65, so not too bad.  It has been lower at times, but mostly it's ok.  At it's lowest, my pulse is about 54. I was in the hospital for a couple of days when I started the beta blocker, so they could monitor my heart round the clock.  I guess if anything went too low, they would have stopped the medication.   I guess I don't want my BP much lower, hopefully if I have to take the Ativan it won't affect my BP that much.  Do you think if it did lower my BP, that it would be by much?

Again, thank you so much...

Michelle

There are no drug interactions with Ativan and bisoprolol.  However, the Ativan may cause some low blood pressure.  I am curious… why are you taking the bisoprolol if you have low blood pressure and a low heart rate… seeing as it can worsen both of those??

I was just wondering if I posted this wrong, or if there is a way to get an answer...
