nosebleeds

I had been taking Prozac, then Celexa, and developed the rare side effect of nosebleeds. I had to stop taking the medication because of this, and there has been a big negative effect on my life. My doctor says that all of the anti-depressant medications have this side effect. Is there an alternative?

Nosebleeds are a side effect to antidepressants classified as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) or serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRI). Antidepressants that may not cause nosebleeds include Wellbutrin or tri-cyclic antidepressants. Consider discussing these options with your physician.
