My ten year old daughter was diagnosed with high-functioning autism last summer.  I am learning on how to deal with her anxiety.  She is in speech and occupational therapy at school.  She also has complex-partial seizure disorder.  She is taking Keppra for that.  Her neurologist wants her to see a psychiatrist for her anxiety.  I was curious as to what therapies any of you have tried and if they have helped?
I was also wondering with my daughter whenever I cut her nails she says it hurts.  Do you feel the same way?  I was wondering when autistics get there nails or hair cut if it bothers them because they feel like their nails are part of their skin and their hair part of their body.  When she was younger she would scream at the top of her lungs when I tried to cut her nails or hair.  I would wait until she would go to sleep and sometimes that still did not work.  I have also learned to use the word trim and not cut.

I have an Autistic Son and I have Aspergers.    A probiotic named Mindlinx PLC specially formulated for Autism and ADHD may help you.   I had the same problem that you express and I take a product called Greens Plus which helped me socially.   The major problem is deficiencies, I am a retired Navy Chief, high functioning too, I was a submariner.   They were concerned about me because I had large blood cells, due to my son, I discovered the real reason was that I was B-12, folate deficient and suffer from Celiac (Gluten, Casin).   The Mindlinx has two bacteria to help break down and help eliminate the Exorphins causing some of what is going on with you.   This probiotic works,  a good B series vitamin and Vitamin C several times a day will help.   Do you eat vegetables, I could eat raw vegetables but could not stand cooked vegetables.   You need a good balanced amino acid and vitamins to make up for a poor diet.   Must don't understand that we can't help some of what we eat because some things actually make us ill just to smell them.   I have changed completely by eliminated all white bread or pizza and with  supplements,  Zinc Omega 3, 6 and 9s, DHA/EPA also.  Good luck.   The autism.com should help you, and I would look for a guardian angel on one of the sites to help you.

When you say "im a mum" does that mean you are a parent?

Is typing on the computer, like on this forum, a bit easier for you to communicate?

Making choices is a hard thing.
