Hoping this is the correct place for this type of question.
My problems began almost 3 years ago when my normally excellent digestion went bad within a period of one week. Symptoms were extreme sluggishness of the digestive tract with painful gas and bloating. Trying to summarize: after numerous diagnostic tests, including 4 CT scans, an MRI, loads of bloodwork and an upper ultrasound endoscopy with biopsy, I have been officially diagnosed with IgG4 related disease which is apparently causing chronic inflammation of the pancreas.
Treatment has been difficult. My GI doc sent me to an oncologist for infusions of Rituximab, which was denied by Medicare. This stuff is apparently $10,000 per infusion! I responded only weakly to oral prednisone and am now on azathioprine. My IgG4 levels are checked regularly and always come back high. There have been other abnormal results in blood and stool tests.
So--just wondering if my experience resonates with anyone here. My digestion continues to be poor. I have lost 75 pounds since onset and maintaining my weight has become a bit of a challenge.
Thanks
