B - 12 deficiency

What is the most effective way to treat pernicious anemia. Injections or oral or sub lingual tabs ? I hate the idea of adding another tab to my daily meds and wonder if I can give myself monthly injections ?

Hi.
I live in england so it maybe different were you live.

I dont take them anymore now, but i used to have weekly injections every week by the nurse at the doctors.
Im sure this is the best way to get B12, i don know they also do tablets, etc, but i was never offered them as they said i needed the jabs. as my levels were very low.

Hope this helps, and good look with medicare.

Interestingly Medicare does not pay for B-12 injections, which really puzzles me. I pay at least fifty dollars a time . Five the the medication and forty five for the injector ! I figure I can save myself forty five dollars a month ! Also my doc is forty five minutes away which adds gas cost. Not used to having to pay for meds ! The weekly ones I just finished were given at the docs office. I plan on contacting Medicare and asking why they don't pay when there is a diagnosis of pernicious anemia ! Do you still take the injections ?

Hi.
I found the best way to treat B12 deficiency, is with B12 injections.

But usually if the pernicious anaemia is severe, they give the injections.

Cant you get the district nurse or the nurse at the doctors , to administer the jabs for you. Mine did so im sure i would ask.

Good Luck
