I think I may have an autoimmune disease. I am a 42 year old woman who was diagnosed with Lymes Disease in January of this year and while on Doxycycline I went down hill. I went through a period of brain fog, blurred vision, severe muscle aches on my shoulders, arms and legs, had trouble walking and would feel an electric shock from my head to my toes that would cause me to not be able to lift the heels of my feet. I had a brain MRI and a spinal MRI. The brain MRI showed a very small T2 lesion associated with the Lymes Disease. The spinal MRI only showed a small cyst in my C8 vetebrae. I was born with spinal bifida occulta. I have a history of alopecia areata and currently do have hair loss. Although I have improved with physical therapy I still feel generalmuscle weakness and fatigue and still have trouble walking. The pain in my arms and shoulders persist and often comes with numbness in my right thumb and numbness to my face. My doctor has diagnosed me with fibromyalgia subsequent to the Lymes. I already went to a special lab to check for possible co-infections due to the Lymes Disease and the blood work shows that I am cured of Lymes Diases, although, my doctor said that possible co-infections with other vector bourne bacteria is still possible as it doesn't always show up in the blood work. The doctor has recommended that I re-do all my blood work in the later part of June just to check again for bacterial infection and things like the HV or Epstein Barr virus, etc. The previous blood work showed a high exposure to the epstein barr virus and the HV6 virus, but both are not active at this time. I forgot to mention that I started to get sick on January 8 after having the swine flue vaccine (nasal spray). At the time of the swin flu vaccine I did not know that I had Lymes Disease. I'm thinking that the Lymes and the Swine flu vaccine may have triggered a dorman auto immune disease, not yet diagnosed. Any guesses or suggestions as to what I should be doing next? Currently, I take Cymbalta and Vicoprofen for my condition. Thanks.
