I do and am doing what you suggested.
Thanks anyway.
Hiatal hernia is a physical defect in the diaphragm that allows a portion of your stomach to protrude up into the chest cavity. It can only be corrected with surgery, or the symptoms managed with medication and diet change. I have it, too, as does my mom. The tendency to get it is genetic.
You should also not do any type of abdominal exercise that crunches your stomach, like situps. As you probably already know, overeating is a big trigger; eat small amounts at a time and know which foods tend to cause symptoms. I'm sure you know the drill about elevating the head of your bed, yadda yadda yadda. :)
It's very difficult to get enough fiber by diet alone. I use a fiber supplement like Benefiber or Metamucil. It makes a big difference in my tendency to develop constipation.
I was taking two Prevacid a day and still eating handfuls of antacids. Switching to Nexium (now available in generic) seems to have made a big difference.
I've heard about aloe vera juice, as well. Trouble is, I can't stand the stuff. :) It's worth a try, though!
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
