Is this MS?

Hi guys, i have been getting body wide muscle twitches for a month now. I can make my neck twitch a little by forcing a yawn. Blood tests have ruled out deficiencies.
My limbs also get numb easily when i cross them. Numbness is relieved immediately upon release. 17 y/o active asian male athlete. Does the fact that i can play sports actively without problems rule out ms? No other symptoms.
P.s. low back disc bulge and upper back tightness

You can look up lumbar facet syndrome or Bertolotti's syndrome...

Lumber facet can also be misdiagnosed and actually be Bertolotti's. Involves the vertebrae you describe.

It can involve the sciatica, causing pain running down leg from lower back through the buttocks, numbness, pinched nerve as described in another post, and can be associated as well with spinal stenosis...

Muscle twitches and cramping can be caused by a condition known as Cramp Fasciculation Syndrome. I have trouble with this myself.

Over the years dealing with chronic lower back pain and sciatica have had differential diagnoses of lumbar facet syndrome in lower back, and am in the middle of trying to find out if it has actually been Bertolloti's all this time, although it is more rare.

Take care...C

Oh finally, a reply thanks! My blood test has already revealed that electrolytes are fine. Ok so basically, i have no numbness that stays with me. However, i notice that when i walk with shoes that are flat, the ball of both feet will feel a little numb. This numbness will not be felt if i wore my Nike slippers. Could this be related? My neuro told me MS numbness stays for days/weeks. I have minor disc bulge l4-l5 and l5-s1 though. Everyone thinks im paranoid although i know my claims are legitimate. Help is much appreciated.

Hi!
Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, muscle fatigue, pinched nerve due to wrong posture could be the cause of twitches and numbness, especially since you are an athlete. If you can play well and do not have any other symptoms then probably MS is ruled out, but nothing can be said for sure until specific tests and clinical examination is done.
If vitamin and mineral deficiencies are ruled out then please, get your kidney function, parathyroid gland function and adrenal function tests done because these affect the electrolyte balance in the body. Stress, alcohol, caffeine and fatigue all cause similar symptoms. Hence if you take alcohol or coffee then cut this down. Sleep at regular hours and see if it helps. Certain sleep disorders and peripheral nerve disorders due to diabetes, Lyme's, lupus or hypothyroidism can also be the cause.
Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
