Tilt Table Results

Hello,

I went for a tilt table test on Friday due to shortness of breath, dizziness, and nausea when standing up. This started back in late September first of October and at first the shortness of breath would last for couple of days and then go away and then come back. Now it is constant and some days are worse than others and when this problem is at its worse so is the dizziness and nausea and I come close to passing out during these episodes. The same thing also happens when I go outside and come back in due to the temperature change, it does not happen everytime but it is pretty frequent.

Now my question is during the tilt table my baseline BP was 108/70 and they only had to put me in an upright position one time because I got a little dizzy after they stood me up but it seemed to go away pretty quickly and then after a few minutes I informed the nurse that I was feeling sick to my stomach and getting really hot. Then a few seconds later I passed out and got sick after regaining consciousness . During this episode it was noted that my blood pressure shot up to 118 then immediatley down to 40/24 with a pulse of 38. Are my BP results typical for someone that has a positive tilt table result. The nurse seemed bothered with the results and would not let me leave until she spoke with my cardiologists and he made me come straight to his office and is concerned with an autonomic dysfunction. He informed me to go see my nero immediatley, so I saw her yesterday and she seemed puzzled as to why I was sent back to her and said that this is normal with people my age and it will pass. I guess my frusteration comes from the fact that my nuero ordered this test and she had no answers and did not seem to be bothered by the results. Why send me for a test if you plan on doing nothing when you get a positive result. What was she looking for in the first place?

I am a 30yr old female, I was diagnosed with a idiopathic hypersomnia sleep disorder back in June, I have had no luck in finding a cause for this if there is one. I have had two abnormal brain MRI's the latest one in December did not show any significant changes and nothing showed up as an active lesion but there are lesions in the subcortical, periventricular, and centrum semiovale, my feet have been going numb and have pins and needles sensation

Thank you for your response, sorry it has taken this long for me to get back with you. I got a virus on my computer and I just got it back. Vanderbilts Autonomic clinic called today and they want me to come back in, so maybe I can finally get some answers.

Have you had any luck with your son? If not, I wish you all the best. These last 9months have been frustrating.

This information did not help me with my son but I thought I would pass it to you.  There is a Dr. at Mayo clinic in Minnesota and he has a youtube video Dr. Fincher or Fischer.  He specializes in POTS.  I do know that you can have records sent to them for review.  We were told my son had POTS but was ruled out as a possibility.  I never knew it existed but evidentually it is a real problem and have a clinic at Mayo for this disorder.  We were told that it can be fixed.  I really don't know much more.  Sorry.  I stopped reading about it after a second look and we were told this wasn't it.  Might help you.  Wishing you the best!  ((hugs))
