hi! I have had this disease since the year 2000. The first cream we tried I soon became immune too but for years now I have had success with Lotriderm cream, a topical antifungal and buy the 50g Rx tube which they recommended using 2x a day but later I was told once per day was sufficient.
i have lichen sclorosis. am working away with dermovate cream but need something else to ease the dryness. have tried emollients without success. am using sudocreme at the min but it is beginning to burn me. have heard about callendulum cream. any advice
I hear you! I, too have lichen schlerosis, and I wish there was a surgery to make the pain go away. The only success I have had, or even heard of, is through steroid and estrogen treatment. I, too, find this disease as insulting a disease to my femininity as I could think of.
I have had to shop around for the right doctor -- I find that gyne's are best, and it took some searaching, but there are great, knowledgable doctors in this area. I also joined a group on Yahoo about lichen sclerosis, and they have a list of doctors that others have reported are great; perhaps there may be some in your area. Oh - by the way, if you do read the Yahoo support group discussions, I tried their suggestion re: EMU oil, and it was AWFUL for me. My gyne said no, no, nooooo.
Good luck, and even though this disease is awful, you're not alone with it.
Here's to the best -- and let us know if you find something that works for you.
