Treatment for food allergies is avoiding the allergen altogether. I had an intolerance to gluten (many people who are chronically ill seem to do as well), so I had to go to the health food stores and purchase rice or potato flour and/or other gluten free products.

After I began the pathogen killing treatment, my gluten intolerance went away. I noticed this about 6 months after being on the protocol when I decided to be brave and try eating a piece of bread. Fortunately I didn't have any additional symptoms after then and have noticed that addition to my gluten intolerance, some of my allergies and chemical sensitivities have gotten better as well.

I also recommend homeopathy for allergies. I found out that homeopathy is very effective... if you have the right remedy. Years ago, I had allergy shots and they made me very ill... that is when I was disgusted with western medicine (undiagnosed for about 12 years at that point) and sought help from alternative medicine practitioners. I've had nothing but great experiences from these practitioners, as they were the only ones who seemed to be able to help my symptoms.

So what treatments did you take for food allergies? Being allergic to barley is a huge challenge, Its in everything...

Wow... I haven't heard of being allergic to beef, but I know now (after being chronically ill) that anything is possible.

I, too, strongly agree that your food allergies are due to a dysfunctioning immune system. I also have food allergies (much better now and some have even disappeared since treatment) and I used to have an intolerance to gluten (common in chronically ill patients).

OK... More challenges have come my way.. However I know where the rash comes from.. I am allergic to BEEF and BARLEY... Just found out today who would have ever thought some one my age would develope allergies at this age. Ugh... I just wander if its something to do with every thing else going on with me. My doc thinks its from my low immune system...

"So, what keeps you from living with a yeast infection?"

Probiotics and a bottle of Dr. David A. Jernigan's (Hansa Center) "yeast-ease" (highly recommended !)

I do enjoy a challenge because that is the way I learn. One of the questions that many CFS and probably autoimmune experts are asking about mycoplasma in CFS patients is, "how did CFS patients get this bacterial infection?".  My opinion is this... I've read that you can be bit by a lyme infected tick and not have lyme disease. However, years later... you can get mono and then all of a sudden, you have all of these symptoms and then you realize months later (only if you are lucky), that you have lyme disease !

To my understanding, there are natural mycoplasmas and man-made mycoplasmas. Of course the man-made bacteria was invited to be used a biological weapon. That is why many veterans have Gulf War Syndrome and like CFS patients, have mycoplasma infections. Recently, CFS was in the news again and one of the world's renowned experts on CFS said that they were "doing a lot of research to see if there's a difference between Gulf War Illness and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome."

What I've learned is these illnesses are not contagious, but the evidence is mounting that people who are chronically ill with bacterial infections have communicable illnesses. That is probably why chronic illnesses spread in families.

I know I an interesting mess. Seems like you enjoy a challenge along with being a blessing/help. I just thought I would let you know that I have had Mono, Menigitus , mycoplasma pnemonia. The pnemonia was when I was about 13. The Mono was about 3 years ago and the meningitus was 6 years ago. I just wander if there is a connection any where???

Very interesting site! Thanks for sharing. So, what keeps you from living with a yeast infection?

Today my Doctor called from Mayo clinic, I explained to her how upset I was that the Doc here thought that parvo was from Genital warts, She found much humor in it, however did not offer much help. She did suggest that he call the Rhumatologist there at mayo that I seen, But I dont see that going very well. I do see my local Rhumatologist next month and believe that he will be more of a help.
Thanks so much and I will keep you updated.

"He is telling me that Parvo is from Genital warts"

That is dumb. You may want to ask him then what the Human Papillomavirus is ? ; ^ )

Since you have swollen joints, it sounds like you could possibly have rheumatoid arthritis. Bacteria causes inflammation and since there is credible evidence that you have RA along with your parvo, you could have multiples infections. Although they've had success with antibiotics in many RA patients, for some reason many rheumatologists don't want to treat these infections.... possibly due to a concern about prescribing too many antibiotics. But since you at the end of your rope... I think you owe it to yourself (if you are interested) to pursue this alternative treatment that has changed the lives for many people, including those of us who have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. An estimated two-thirds of CFS patients have bacterial infections, along with viral infections. Myself included.

Treatment with antibiotics is the same treatment that lyme patients go through. It could take a year or even years and during that time, it could temporarily increase your symptoms... due to what is called Jarisch- Herxheimer (J-H) or "herxing". So it can be a long process and temporarily make you feel worse. But at least you know that you have ANOTHER option and the success stories from patients who have taken this route are impressive. Here's a link to some of those success stories:

You are so wonderful. I am in shock at how dumb my Allergist is. I am getting hives every day and I thought it was from the parvo, He is telling me that Parvo is from Genital warts... I am so aggravated. I am waiting on a call from my Mayo doc, she may want me to come back up there when she realizes they cant handle it here. Thanks so much for the link, I am going to check it out now..

Hi kate1975,

Hang on... and I hope that you are having a good day today. What they are finding in chronically ill patients is chronic infections and often.. bacterial infections (mycoplasma). Fortunately, there are treatments for these bacterial infections. I know Parvo, obviously is a virus, but should consider getting tested for mycoplasma infection. The problem is many labs do not do the testing you need. I hope that you will check out the links I list below.... it will give you information that you can share with your physicians.

Another thing to add is that most physicians were not taught about mycoplasma infections in medical school. Here is an excerpt from Prof. Garth Nicolson about this, when he was a MedHelp guest physician last October, answering questions for MedHelp members... all who had chronic illnesses:

"Unfortunately, most Infectious Disease specialists will not recognize or test for these chronic infections, such as Mycoplasma, C. pneumoniae, Borrelia, and other viruses, mainly because they are never taught about them during their training (I know this well from teaching medical students for over 25 years!)."

So, what is pathogen killing treatment?

Today is a very bad day. I just told my husband that I am to the end of my rope. My hands/ feet are very swollen and itchy.

Hi ! I read a little bit about the drug that you are taking, including the side effects. Rashes and respiratory problems are listed as potential side effects. And what also concerns me is this drug can suppress your immune system.

You may want to ask your rheumatologist about treating your condition with antibiotics. If you check out the links below, you will see that infections are frequently found in patients who have autoimmune diseases. These infections include bacterial and viral.... and many people who have tried antibiotic therapy, have had success. (for more information, you can check out the Health Pages)

http://arthritis.about.com/cs/antibiotic/a/antibiotictreat.htm

I do wish you the best of luck with your treatment. I honestly would consider a pathogen killing treatment. That is what is restoring my health.

Best,

~PlateletGal

Thanks for your responces.
As far as symptoms I have swollen joints and fatigue, many symptoms or Ra. Which led my Rhumatogist to treat me with Methotrexate before ever knowing I have Parvo. They also in fact they treat parvo with methotrexate, Other syptoms I have are rashes and sun sinsitivity I have lung problems and they believe that also may come from the parvo..
Interesting....

I know of other MedHelp members who have had elevated Parvo virus titers. One of them has a diagnosis of MS and the other is still undiagnosed.... possibly early MS. I did post a study in the fibro/CFS forum (health pages --- "latest research on fibromyalgia") about many fibro patients having elevated parvo virus titers.

So how are your physician(s) going to treat you ?
