I do believe that thyroid disorders can be brought about by insults, such as trauma, infection, toxic molecules, etc. Such insults can result in the thyroid gland "shutting down" or producing less thyroid hormones, resulting in hypothyroidism. Interestingly, the same insults can also in some cases result in hyperthyroidism or over-production of thyroid hormones. We often see thyroid problems in patients with chronic infections and other diagnoses, and this gland appears to be quite susceptible to certain infections.
I posted this question under the heading of cranial gap but is actually ,part of a side effect of Low Thyroid.
